International Sand Sculpture Competition

Officer and Naval Cadets from the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) competed at the annual Sandhurst Competition at the United States Military Academy (USMA) - Westpoint. This year they competed against forty-eight teams from the United States and from around the world. With all of their hard work, dedication and teamwork, our Officer/Naval cadets placed ninth overall and second internationally. USMA - Westpoint, Highland Falls, New York on April 29, 2023.

Sam Ismer took the first prize with this fully functional spinning wheel made from European oak. The main wheel runs on engineering bearings, the spools run on a steel shaft with phosphorous bronze bushes.

Bill and Kathleen were in the finals of a lighting design competition - this is their entry. They were fortunate to make the final five.

I'm so very proud of them both.

On 25 Oct while waiting for a big band of clouds to pass I stopped to take a few photos of boats in a Marietta College rowing competition, The photo is of boats that have come up river to I think take their place at the starting line

Winner of the 2008 London Handel Competition, Erica hails from South Africa and studied voice with Werner Nel, Lillian Watson and Sheila Barnes. Her wide ranging repertoire includes several world premieres, and she has performed in concert and recital in the UK, France, Austria, Germany and South Africa, making her Wigmore Hall debut in 2008. She has perfomed under the batons of Sir David Willcocks, David Gibson, Richard Cooke and Simon Over, and her operatic experience includes the roles of Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Adéle (Die Fledermaus), First Lady and Queen of the Night (Magic Flute) and Despina and Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte).
