OsmoBlue has won the €40.000 first prize in the European finals of Climate-KIC’s 2013 Venture Competition today (22 October).

A Dutch and a UK company were awarded €20.000 each in a joint second prize as an Italian start-up picked up the audience award.

Switzerland-based OsmoBlue pitched a sustainable and profitable technology for recycling low-temperature waste heat. OsmoBlue’s patented technology converts low-temperature heat, as low as 30°C, into electricity. The system is scalable and can produce hundreds of kW to tens of MW of electricity.

The prizes were awarded after a pitching session at Climate-KIC’s annual Innovation Festival which is being held in Wroclaw, Poland this week. A total of 13 start-ups were judged by a panel of investors and representatives from industry as well as the hundreds of climate innovators in the audience who voted for their favorite start-up by sending a text message.
