A paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division's 1st Brigade Combat Team makes it to the finish line of a 12-mile road march, Aug. 29, 2013, during the Towle/Megellas Competition on Fort Bragg, N.C. The four-day contest, held to enhance section skills and esprit de corps, tested the skills of a team from each battalion and every lieutenant in 1st BCT to determine the best squad and the best junior officer in the Devil brigade.

GEORGIA GARRISON TRAINING CENTER, Ft. Stewart, Ga. 28 Feb 2015 – The Georgia National Guard's 2015 Andrew Sullens Marksmanship Competition at Ft. Stewart, Ga. wrapped its second day of competition with combat rifle series and the Bianchi Battle completing six stages incorporating shotgun, rifle and pistol. The awards ceremony culminated recognizing historical firsts (first female and Air National Guard competitors) and served as a force multiplier with competitors extending their service. Uniforms are common at Louisiana public schools, so the kids always looked sharp, even during after-school band practice. My son (left, sousaphone) practices a field show maneuver with a fellow sousaphonist (girls rule!) during 2004. Their show had 48 sets, and my son later performed with a big Texas high school band where the shows surpassed 120 sets.
