This photo shows three Iridium satellite. During a long time exposure of several minutes the satellites appeared one after another. This communication satellites can be very bright objects in the nights sky and reach -8 magnitude. This photo was taken during a spring time so that a cherry blossoms in the left up and right down corner are very good visible. Artificial flashes from Iridium staellites are coming from a reflected light from a low sun position under the horizont. Iridium satellites have an orbit above the north and south pole, that is also a reason why they light tracks from them seems to be moving in a differnt direction from a background stars.

She got to compete in gymnastics this weekend and had so much fun. All of the girls in her age group got medals. So she was very happy:D They were all in first place. I think it's because they are so young and they would propably be sad if only some of them got something.

These photos are part of a project focusing on the lifecycle of man-made fabrics. The photos will help to identify how the fibres’ structure and colour vibrancy changes during the use phase (washing) and how the number of washing cycles and different washing temperatures alters them. During an Environmental Life Cycle Assessment of man-made fabrics, we identified that the two largest environmental impacts in the lifecycle of a man-made fabric are the manufacturing phase, specifically the dyeing process and the washing cycles during use phase. These two impacts are interrelated - the use of extensive dyeing processes takes place to avoid colour alterations for certain washing cycles during use phase. We think that the extensive dyeing processes does not actually influence the life span of the colour vibrancy; rather, we believe that the washing cycle and specific conditions such as water temperature, number of cycles etc., is the main variable, as the structure of the fibres deteriorates as they are washed, decreasing the colour vibrancy. If our hypothesis proved right, we will have evidence to support that the washing conditions is the variable that most greatly affects the fibres’ structure and colour vibrancy. So, the extra dyestuff used during dyeing process are not needed and in this way the environmental impacts of dyeing have a potential to be decreased. Also, if washing temperature is the main variable of fibre alteration, this will support that washing cycles in lower temperatures increases the lifecycle of the fabric. In addition, the lower washing temperatures will reduce the environmental impact of washing. The photos were taken using scanning electron microscopy in the Nanoscience Centre. Both images have been false-coloured to show the different materials, namely the reflective coating and the fibrous cloth.

Sgt. Luis Herrera, Chilean Army, scales a wall during the obstacle portion of the Texas Military Department's 2016 Best Warrior Competition at Camp Swift in Bastrop, Texas, Feb. 6, 2016. Traditionally a join competition with competitors from the Texas Army and Air National Guards, this year's event invited service members from the U.S. Army Reserves component and the Chilean military to compete in the three-day grueling competition, testing the aptitude of each competitor in several mentally and physically challenging events relevant in today's operational environment.
