A team of competitors move down a ladder to get to the next firing position during the United States Army Special Operations Command Sniper Competition on Dec.9.The 3rd annual competition was held by the cadre of D Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group (Airborne) Dec. 5-9 on Fort Bragg, N.C. Challenged in every aspect of sniper operations during both daytime and nighttime, 32 teams of military and civilian law enforcement snipers were pit against time, distance and realistic combat environments to determine the best special-operations sniper team.

Cadet teams compete in the fall Sandhurst Competition Oct. 26-27 to qualify for the annual Sandhurst Military Skills Competition in April at West Point, NY. Thirty six teams were tested on a series of challenging military tasks to be narrowed down to 12 teams that will compete in the spring. (U.S. Army Photo by Matt Moeller)

Saturday 29 April saw the first Greater Manchester Volunteer Police Cadet Competition.

 

Cadets from units across the Force – along with a group from Derbyshire Constabulary – competed in a series of scenario-based tests and a drill competition.

 

The Blackley unit won the overall prize with cadets from Trafford wining the drill test.

 

The event took place at the Force’s Sedgley Park Centre with The Lord Mayor of Manchester, Cllr Carl Austin-Behan and the High Sherriff of Greater Manchester Kui Man Gerry Yeung attending as guests of Honour.

 

Chief Constable Ian Hopkins presented the main award.
