From Smithsonian Associates' "The National Zoo's New Giant Panda Cub: Mei Xiang Delivers a Miracle" Zoom webinar (2/24/21)

Comparison between my standard black (left) and Black 2.0 (right). Not as dark as it was advertised to be, but extremely matte, which is useful.

Just a side by side comparison of Kelvin Low's ZVRF09 with the PALASO.

Ever wonder how the 1/6 male bodies stack up against each other. Check out my blog for some comparison shots.

The left image taken with GoPro 11 night mode @ 30 seconds with iso 400 is a jpeg. The right is the same image post-processed from a raw file. Jpeg auto conversion does an okay job but if possible, always take a raw image for a more realistic capture.

Everyone's good at something.

Even Withdoll, though I haven't figured out what it is yet.

Conclusions: If I had to pick a body with both looks and posability I'd go with Narae, even though her knees aren't the best. If I had to go on posing alone, I'd pick the DoC because she can do anything and everything.

Taken with the same equipment with same settings. Therefore these images must be scale, showing their relative size compared to each other, as we could the in the sky.

I think we all sometimes feel like we are the seedling planted among the giant redwoods. My wife's vibrant grandmother used to often use the phrase "Comparisons Odious" to describe certain situations. I eventually became curious enough about the saying to look it up. It basically means that comparisons are hateful and destructive.

I find myself often thinking of and repeating this oh so true mantra when I start to compare myself and my accomplishments, or lack of, to those around me. We will never grow taller by tearing down those who are closer to the clouds than we... we have to create our growth rings at our own pace and elect to be happy in our own circumstances and struggles.

Comparison of digital and analogue emusion lift. Both images taken with a Chamonix 4x5 camera. On the left: image taken with Kodak Ektar, then scanned, printed as inkjet print onto a transfer medium and lifted onto watercolour paper. On the right: Image taken on expired Polaroid Type 59 and lifted onto watercolour paper.

While the image on expired polaroid is much more faded, the emulsion is also much softer and more delicate.

Here's a visual I've drawn up ..... A comparison of two very popular camera sensors in a real world scenario with actual data.

The Kodak KAF8300 (in such camera's as the QSI683, Moravian G2-8300 and Atik 383L)

The Sony ICX814 (QSI690, Atik 490, Atik One 9.0 and SX Trius-814)

I hope that you find this a useful size comparison if you are torn between the two or are unclear as to the effect of sensor size on a target.

Just for your interest... these two images were taken at 330mm focal length.

Hehe, on my way to my own navy!

Without and with light painting: this is a before and after comparison during the evening twilight.

Both images are single 30 sec exposures @ f/8, ISO 320.

In the bottom image, I walked through path and over the bridge with a small LED panel light in my hand. That's a campfire in a picnic area at the end of the path (almost looks like a sunset thru the trees, doesn't it?).

The plant shop I visited with Mum had a trolley of 'free plants' including this rather root bound kale. I took it and one euphorbia (I think) from the trolley. Both flowered beautifully (and I hope to gather seed from both as well).

I was inspired to capture this after seeing Sarah Springer's photo of kale. Their vivid colours are so striking, thanks for the inspiration Sarah :)

Many Westerns (especially females) have longer bills than this one and some juveniles have a bit brighter plumage, both of which would make the contrast between the two species a bit more distinct.

For this day I had to have written words and while I was looking for inspiration these words spoke to me as this is something I do so often and need to be reminded that although I need to strive to better than the previous day, I should not compare me to others.

I shot this earlier with the Voigtlander Ultron 28mm lens. Later I'll shoot it once more with the Q2 Monochrom for comparison.

Quick doll body comparison between my new ARAM doll and some of my other 1/6th scale dolls. Hopefully it is helpful to those curious about how her size relates to dolls like Licca, Blythe, etc.
