How can a library, a theatre and other cultural partners successfully coexist under one roof? Firstly by breaking down the walls...and secondly, by combining the architecture of public space with the design of programmability. The result is called Hub Kerkrade: not only a resource centre, but also a hotbed of knowledge, information, education and entertainment.

Kerkrade is a city in the southernmost province of the Netherlands, close to Germany. Hub Kerkrade, located in a former shopping centre, has a surface area of no less than 5,000 m2, which houses the theatre, the library, various cultural partners and the nearby Kerkrade Music School. This location is part of the revitalised city centre. The design of the Hub is a new co-creation of international creative guide and architect Aat Vos (design concept, strategy, creative direction) in collaboration with Mars Interior Designers (design, engineering).

Originally, the library occupied half of the building's surface and was separated from the theatre by a wall. The removal of the partitions created more space, light and a new idea for the foyer. This almost always empty space has been transformed into a multifunctional shared living space where people can work, study or meet. The focal point of this space is in the foyer: the theatre staircase is equipped with a beautiful banister and a reddish-pink carpet, covered on both sides with blue steel. The foyer bar was made of copper and is now set against a background of raw bricks, combined with an LED screen and a light box. The "break drinks cabinet" steals the show, both in terms of its size and the colour-changing lighting.

Comments and constructive criticism always welcome.

{Location - Undisclosed location. Hydra Base.

{Time - Really late at night. Like past your bed time late.

The Wizard paces across the floor in front of a large vault door. His teammate, The Trapster, is trying to break the seal of the door. Whirlwind is on the ground enjoying a cup of coffee, wondering why he's here. Taskmaster is leaning back on the wall wondering the same. He knows he is better off on his own, but for some reason accepted the offer the Wizard gave him.

(Pshuw!)

Suddenly the sound of a teleporter fills the silence in the long hallway. The sound causes all of the "Fightful Four" to direct their attention to the source of the sound.

"Pardon the interruption. I'm looking for the bathroom."

"Piss off, mate!"

"That's exactly what I'm trying to do Paste Pot Pete."

"The name's Tra..."

"Quiet, fool!" The wizard exclaims. The Trapster directs his attention back the door.

"Why are you here, Deadpool?" Whirlwind chimes in.

"No one's listening. I'd just like to find the bathroom.

The Frightful Four make no effort in amusing Deadpool with an answer. Seconds pass and The Trapster finally cracks the code on the vault door.

"Got it!"

"Taskmaster and Whirlwind, go inside the vault room. Get the weapon ready for extraction. Trapster, go get the car."

The three follow the commands. The Wizard walks towards Deadpool and rips off the cheap wizard cap from Deadpool's head.

"Hey! Mickey gave me that!"

"Bugger off, Deadpool. You have no business being here."

"I actually do. You however, do not. I'm here to stop you and your partners from stealing that weapon."

"Why do you care? This weapon will allow me to rule this world. Defeat any hero that comes in my way."

"Y'see that's the problem. I like the way this world is. Sure a few changes here and there would be nice, but I don't want to see anything you'd think of as the ruler of the world."

"Then you'll have to stop me..."

"Gladly..."

Dear friends, thank you so much for your support - for visiting, for faving, for your encouraging comments, for sharing your inspiring images. Basically, the Flickr community is the only audience for my photography, so to me your feedback is what applause is for an artist. The challenge to surprise you with new and more exciting creations is one major driver for me to learn and improve.

But as much as I love and need Flickr (admittedly :-) - it's time to take a break. There will be little time for me in the upcoming weeks, and I feel I need some new and fresh ideas as well. Time to gain some distance.

Have a great time everybody and see you back in June!

Latin Name: Anas platyrhynchos - Mallard

Daisy, our pet rescued duck had a Spring visitor again this year. Obviously named Donald by us, he used to come and sit with her every day last year, and when he arrived again this year it was obvious that it was the same drake as the greeting between them was wonderful to see and hear. He is very protective of her and immediately saw off any other drake that dared to land in our garden in the vicinity of Daisy. This was one of his "look-out" spots, on the top of the side gate to our garden at the side of the property where Daisy is free to wander during the day and where her night hutch is situated. Other look-out positions were on top of the aviary roof where Jacko, our pet rescued Jackdaw is, also in the same side garden; on top of the worshop at the side of the back garden; or on top of the property roof! If another drake did land in the side garden a skirmish took place and .... well, let's just say that the interloper never stayed there very long before flying off in a hurry, often leaving behind some feathers!! He would arrive early in the morning and only leave after we put Daisy to bed in the hutch each night, often sitting outside the hutch for a while, softly talking to her. They made a very nice couple and I hope he is still around next year for his daily visits to keep her company during the Spring. This year she kept us well supplied with 102 eggs!!

Taken with my Canon EOS 7D Mark II and Canon Telephoto Zoom 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM EF Lens and framed in Photoshop.

I really wanted to post a photo..

And I love this one.. as a simple snapshot of my loved ones.

I love how I have them both wearing RED... Pretty cool.

This was taken during our walk to the local baseball field... (Also when the previous two images were taken).

___________

So, I have 3 important photo challenge photos that must be done ASAP.. So I will probably be trying to get them done either today or tomorrow, hopefully *fingers crossed*. I have a lot to do, A LOT going on.. (Not really a day off from work...) We're actually about to head to our first appointment of the day. But I'm sure in between all of our appointments I will be able to squeeze a few photos in... If I push myself. (So that's what I'm going to TRY to do!)

I can't make any promises... but keep an eye out.

My 3 photos that I have to do are..

"52 weeks on Flickr"

**subjects = 1) Backlit & 2) Mystery. **

"52Frames.com"

**Subject: Edited by someone else** (Pretty awesome).

& Of coarse I'll post that here as well too...

So yeah, wish me luck and keep your eye out!

_____

>>Hope that you all are having a WONDERFUL WEEK!!

Take care & Happy Photographing!!!

Cockatiel

Scientific Name: Nymphicus hollandicus

Description: The Cockatiel is an unusual member of the cockatoo family. It is small in size, and has a slender body and long pointed tail, which is more characteristic of the smaller parrots. Its plumage is mostly grey, paler below, with a white wing patch, orange cheeks and a distinctive pointed crest. The male can be identified by its bright yellow forehead, face and crest. Young Cockatiels resemble the adult female, although the young males usually have a brighter yellow face. The Cockatiel is not found naturally in any other country, but is a popular cage bird, second only to the Budgerigar, Melopsittacus undulates. The Cockatiel does not have the screeching voice of many other parrots and may learn to 'speak'.

Distribution: The Cockatiel is widespread throughout mainland Australia, but is uncommon in Tasmania, with only a few sightings being reported to date.

Habitat: The Cockatiel is seen in pairs or small flocks, in most types of open country, usually near water. It is common throughout its range, especially in the north and the more arid inland areas.

Seasonal movements: Throughout its range, the Cockatiel is strongly nomadic, moving around in response to the availability of food and water.

Feeding: Cockatiels feed on a variety of grass seeds, nuts, berries and grain. They may feed either on the ground or in trees, and always in small to large numbers. Cockatiels roost in trees near water and travel from these areas in large flocks to feeding grounds.

Breeding: Cockatiels may breed at any time, in response to suitable periods of rain, especially in the more arid regions. Both sexes share the incubation of the eggs, which are laid in a hollow, high up in trees. Suitable trees are either in or close to water. Cockatiels enter the nest hollow tail first.

Calls: Although mostly silent, the Cockatiel gives a long and distinctive "queel-queel" in flight. It does not have the screeching voice of many other parrots and may learn to 'speak'.

Minimum Size: 30cm

Maximum Size: 33cm

Average size: 32cm

Average weight: 90g

Breeding season: Normally July to December in south of range

Clutch Size: 2 to 9, usually 5

Incubation: 19 days

Nestling Period: 30 days

365 Project: A Prompt A Day 2011

14/365

I took this photo a day late. I had this idea yesterday, but because of the snow days we had this week, my husband has been working way into the night. He normally gets off at 9ish, but to make up for the work they missed Monday and Tuesday, he's not been getting home until after 11 (he goes in around 4).
