Another winter scene that I've gone back to from the archives. This image hasn't been seen on Flickr before.
A cosy scene here in Castleton in the Peak District area of Derbyshire. This is the Three Roofs Cafe and Restaurant on Boxing Day 2009.
All my images are processed to look their best on my monitor – they may appear slightly darker/lighter on other screens depending on your display settings.

I really liked shooting the other day. The whole atmosphere was eerie and kind of haunting. In this shot it looks like the branches from the tree still standing are reaching out and grabbing onto the branches that have fallen. There's something sad and lovely about it.
but that might take a few months in Yakutia winter is severe and when the ice melts it will drift along the Lena making it impossible for ships to pass .. somewhere in end of May or in June this little fellow will be back in its favorite element :D...
beautiful light and a little frost can even make a grill cover look pretty. Sometimes you just have to look on the brighter side in this frigid weather :)
It`s 11 degrees with a wind chill of -5 degrees. We still have to waik. Lizzie hates the sweater, but she`s a dog and I`m the mother. Happy furry Friday
A U.S. Soldier assigned to the Michigan National Guard engages targets with his M4 rifle during the Governor’s Twenty marksmanship competition at Camp Grayling Maneuver Training Center, Michigan, November 2, 2021. Soldiers compete in four rifle and five pistol events over a three-day period, with the top 20 percent receiving a special Governor’s Twenty tab to wear on their combat uniforms. Even though the wind was gusting up to 45 MPH and blowing snow like crazy, it was just another day on the farm, Highland Farms in Cornish that is.

I did not take many photographs today [11-11-2019] as it was too cold for me.
I do not know why this installation featuring two bronze women and their shopping is located near the Halfpenny Bridge but I do know that it is known locally as "The Hags With The Bags". It might even be an advertisement from Arnotts which is nearby [see the bags].
It has taken me many years to find its official name and the name of the artist. It is “The Meeting Place Statue” and it was sculpted by Jakki McKenna in 1988. As a matter of interest the Bronze Cow near the Jervis Shopping Centre was created Jackki McKenna ... I really like it.
Jackie McKenna is known throughout Ireland for her many public sculpture commissions. For many years, until around 2005, McKenna focused on commissioned sculptures. She has done a number of sculptures in public view and enjoys the conversations and criticisms that occur as a result. She is a co-founder of the Leitrim Sculpture Centre in Manorhamilton.

the skies look absolutely stunning from up there, innit? They sure do ... but the air trips are so boring.
The same skies and oily food .. what more you can ask for :| Its the destination that sounds good though :o)
ps: Back from hiatus *_*
I took a little drive out to Fernan yesterday as the sun was going down and had to pull over when I saw the beautiful colors in the sky. Just weeks ago Fernan was frozen so solid that I could walk on it. It looks like spring is right around the corner (I hope).

It may be hard to believe but, in spite of attracting more visitors than any other English seaside resort, Blackpool is the most deprived/poorest place of them all

Photographed a bit earlier than the previous post from this location and also from the other side, looking north-east here. It was a very cold evening with some gusts too. The Black Rock Canal pictured here was fully frozen without a doubt but the mighty Niagara River did not even think about that and seemed to defy physics with the temperatures bouncing between 0°F and 20°F for several weeks.
Here's the later photo heading south-east where the cloud layer picked up a brief moment of light and color from the already invisible sun: Warm Look for Cold Winter.
