Puffing up like a feather ball is how Blue Jays must stay warm in below zero weather. Wind chill here in the minus mid-30s C !
Snow and a massive garden bonfire combined to make this wintry scene.
Down the slippery hill into the Somerset village of Staple Fitzpaine.
We thought we’d be doing a walk through ice cave tour, but because of how warm it’s been, it was already melting and flooded, so we have to take a rickety wooden canoe in. Needless to say, I was paranoid af we’d tip and fall in lol.
Looking directly into a blizzard at a beautiful bur oak tree (Quercus macrocarpa, Fagaceae). The large dark blotches in the image are large snowflakes close to the lens as they blew in my face.

What was only supposed to be an overnight ice storm is lasting a week. Here in Texas that’s a weather disaster.
Thanks for stopping by my gallery. I’m very pleased and really appreciate each and every view of my photo, comments, invitations and awards

A cardinal in cold weather appearing fat because of its fluffed up down, settled in the protection of a dense network of branches and woody vines.
We’re having a long spell of cold wet weather… it’s difficult to make myself get out there on the street with my camera!
…but sometimes you get lucky and meet a pretty girl happy to be photographed!
Roll on a sunshiny day!
Bitterly cold, wet and windy day so not many birds about.
Always happy to see the Greenfinch though.
Nice to see the trees getting leaves and showing green in my background.
So cold I had to get out my heated gloves and I was in my hide!
Just liked the view of this tiny crystal ball so i had to photograph it.
I hope you enjoy viewing it too.

Snow develops in clouds that themselves are part of a larger weather system and snow crystals form when tiny supercooled cloud droplets freeze.
The physics of snow crystal development in clouds results from a complex set of variables that include moisture content and temperatures.
Snow is nature`s own sound absorber, dampening sound waves. Who do not enjoy the silence when snow is falling.

Greetings. Wishing everyone a Happy Thursday evening.
Ps After this photograph I removed some snow off the baby olive tree and the hibiscus. By this time my Red Oak was completely hidden by the snow. To be honest it is only a few centimetres tall
We are overrun with Finches. The American Goldfinches and the House Finches are visiting our feeders in great numbers, and I couldn't be happier.
When the weather got super cold a few weeks ago I had to put out an extra feeder for them because there was a near pandemonium with all of them trying to get at this one feeder. Although that extra feeder helped it still didn't seem to curb their frenzy. There was even a brand new thistle sock for the Goldfinches but they seemed to prefer these hotmeats, which are pepper treated sunflower meats.
**Please note - there is a second photo in the Comments section.
A Marsh Tit perches on a branch of rose hips in Cremenes, Spain. Light rain falls as the last remnants of snow melt in the background. The bird's slightly damp feathers reflect the wet conditions, while the soft, neutral tones of the blurred backdrop highlight its presence in this winter landscape.

(Sorry, I have lost some of your faves this evening I have deleted and re-posted this image three times. Flickr seems to be having technical problems this evening. Image suspends and appears to be visible to a limited audience. Very slow refresh and off to visit the panda. lol It doesn't appear to be completely on line or resolved at this time.)

I enjoy all the individual perspectives on how photographers
view and shoot their images, and how, over time we all seem to adapt styles and make them our own.
I also, enjoy reading the ABOUT section on people's galleries, describing their love and interest of photography, all written uniquely in their 'own' chosen words. It's very interesting to see what makes the different artists 'click'.
