This afternoon, I saw the winter offensive! Have a nice weekend everyone, Christmas time is coming, Ho! Ho, Ho .... - Haut Cantal - Haute Auvergne - France - Europe
The Goudriaan mill along with the church dominates the skyline of the beautiful polder village of Goudriaan in the Alblasserwaard. The original mill dates from 1779 and was thoroughly renovated in 1851. Compared to other mills in the area, it is really large in size.
Visited this mill many times, as it is within cycling distance from Rotterdam (35 km away). However, it is closed most of the time. Only open on National Mill Day and Open Monuments day.
One from the end of last year taken roughly forty five minutes before sunset looking across the Dyfi valley to the summit of Tarren Hendre.

Overnight at -20 C. the bay had frozen over, by the following night most of the lake's surface had solidified to ice.
As seen in this image low lying mist/fog covered the unfrozen portion of the water.

This is from last year when the weather was quite different to today, on one of my local walks above Machynlleth, Cymru/Wales.
It looks and feels like Winter, but officially it is still Autumn
In the foreground, there are remnants of some Autumn coloured foliage.
Very cold mist hangs over the lake as it starts to freeze over.

this happened 20-7-2020
On Tuesday morning, a windmill blade was broken off on the Molenkade in Goudriaan. The cover of the Goudriaanse Molen was damaged. Miller Johan Barten is quite shocked. The mill did not turn fast because of the gentle wind, says Barten. "Last Saturday it had turned a lot because of the strong wind, but now the mill turned quietly." Barten was not outside when the blade broke off. "I had just taken the car from the parking lot and put it in a different place. When I came in, I heard a loud thump. It was really going. The tail of the wing went back and forth. Then I saw from the room. hang the wick. The rods of the blades of the Goudriaanse Mill are 35 years old. The mill was built in 1779. "You sometimes hear stories of broken blades, but this was very special. You don't expect this in a calm wind", Barten responds surprised. "It could have ended much worse."
At the moment they are busy repairing the blades

Cold front is hitting vast areas of the US right now, including our region. Every plant outside is covered in ice like these green leaves are.
Northern Mockingbird showed up for some evening berries. He ate one or two and then was sitting nicely on the twig enjoying frizzing but sunny weather.

The temperature was 50℉/10℃ when I took this photo at a windy afternoon. Meanwhile, some guys were enjoying their fishing sport by the ocean. “Hobby” could let lots of people to do some crazy things in unreasonable situation, actually, my behavior was same as them too.

taken some years ago during a visit to NL, a beautiful sight, ice as far as you can see....
We thought we’d be doing a walk through ice cave tour, but because of how warm it’s been, it was already melting and flooded, so we have to take a rickety wooden canoe in. Needless to say, I was paranoid af we’d tip and fall in lol.
