if you have time do have a look at the bigger sizes....
My first morning in Istanbul *first impression
Istanbul Turkiye is home to bad traffic jams and worse driving. Turkey has 14 times more accidents than the UK – Albeit with little improvement since larger fines and better enforcement of road rules have been inmposed, driving in the city proper is not recommended to tourists.** Turning indicators are still rarely used, ...drivers almost never stop at pedestrian crossings ..and tailgating is standard, with racing along the coastal strip on the Asian side leading to deaths despite a government campaign. Therefore it is not advisable for foreigners to drive in Istanbul unless strictly necessary...
the audience overhead gets a compelling vista for free, with music. not so easy to direct the funds to the band though.
i left when it was snowin n dark , but you will always remain in my heart ....
it was a wonderful week in the snow ^^
Enjoy =P
It was a cold, windy night, and this pair of friends or brothers put up their hoods, then stuffed their hands into the pockets of their camouflage jackets, as they walked down the street. I'm not sure if they were really in a hurry, or if it was the cold that gave their steps an apparent urgency. I saw them, got one shot of them--and they were gone!
They're wearing different patterns of fatigue, but I'm not familiar enough with military camouflage clothing to know the specifics and occasions which require their use. In terms of these young men, there's obviously no way of knowing whether either or both of these young men is/has been a member of the military. What I do know is that there is a very muscular recruitment campaign for young Latinos. Along with that, the lack of jobs in the civilian sector makes a military career all the more attractive.
In terms of wearing warm coats--of any variety--we're experiencing a "cold snap" in New York City at the moment, so everyone is getting their winter gear out. No real snow, yet, though...

Shooting a self-portrait at zero degrees F at our place in Kansas, with my Anniversary Speed Graphic camera. The temp was zero when I took this picture but heading down to much colder. Triggered the shot with a Kopil mechanical shutter release. Image captured on FPP's Frankenstein 200 film, developed with Xtol at 1:1.
Taken February 5th, 2012 with my Canon EOS 400D and Sigma 10-20mm Lens.
Decided to get up and get some snow shots, though it had started to melt a little.
The snow settled pretty quick last night. It was half an inch, then I went to watch a movie. After the movie it was about 4 inches.

this is him hiding behind a wall
The temperature his risen to 5 degrees and the rain has cleared most of the snow and ice. I ventured out for about 20 minutes, then straight home to warm back up!

He loves the snow so much he eats a mouthful every three paces.
So I keep telling him... "Whatever you do... don't eat the yellow snow!"

a little tiny icicle...we don't see these often..almost never. It's cold, blustery and we have a lot of ice right now. Pretty to look at...but I'll be happy when it melts! One little tiny Baxter hair even managed to get in the picture :)
(i know it's small..but we just don't get those big dagger icicles like the rest of you!)
it is a family tradition to keep the business going strong and strong, but what can they do besides this, maybe they weren't meant to be outside. Maybe, the concept of being in here keep this place in complete

While most of the birds enjoy the seedcakes we put out.
Sometimes I think many of the birds, like this Northern Cardinal, enjoy them even better when a woodpecker, or a squirrel, has already been there and eaten through the outside edges to expose all those wonderful nooks and crannies - which make it so much easier to nibble on.
An average outfit for dogwalking when it's below zero.

Stop and read this for a second. I stumbled upon the passage from the book Life as a Daymaker, and it's one big, deep-dish pizza for thought. I hope never to slip into this mentality (being goofy and easily amused certainly helps :D).
We convince ourselves that life will get better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and think we will be more content when they are. After that we are frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his act together, when we get a nice car, are able to go on a nice vacation, when we retire...the truth is, there is no better time to be happy than right now, if not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway.
Good stuff, right?
Happiness happens when you make it happen. Don't peg it to an object or event in the future which may or may not materialize. Revel in the beauty of every moment. Even on the darkest days, there is always something to be thankful for, a reason to smile.

Let's change things up a little bit and follow the colorless post with something with plenty of color, something warm. Deceivingly cold in this instance since even that morning, temperatures were far from warm. In this post #4 from that morning, the sun finally found its way through the clouds on the horizon and I really liked the glow on the snow on the frozen lake.
More from that morning at Winter Sunrise over Green Lake.
Orchard Park is one of the suburbs of Buffalo, NY, located to the south in the infamous snow belt. Here, that snow created a wonderful white blanket on the frozen Green Lake contrasting the warm sky above.

The Coney Island Polar Bear Club is the oldest winter bathing organization in the United States, whose members regularly take polar bear plunges in the winters. The club was founded by famed health advocate Bernarr McFadden in 1903.
The club began using the event to raise funds for Special Olympics starting in 2005, and Camp Sunshine in 2007. In 2018, the club decided to support local groups and charities and began partnering with the Alliance for Coney Island to raise funds for local nonprofit organizations.
Members swim in the Atlantic Ocean at Coney Island, New York, United States every Sunday from November through April. Every New Year's Day, the Club is joined by participants from around the country, who partake in an annual swim. The 2005 event had 300 participants and 6000 onlookers. The Chief Polar Bear blows a conch shell to gather the swimmers before they run into the water.
The club was mentioned in popular culture. It is mentioned on the season three episode of Seinfeld, The Pez Dispenser In the episode Kramer informs Jerry that he has joined the club, claiming it to be 'invigorating'. It was also publicized on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, in a taped segment by Dan Bakkedahl about the effects of global warming on the club in faux-nature documentary style.

Mermaid Parade
The MERMAID PARADE specifically was founded in 1983 with 3 goals: it brings mythology to life for local residents who live on streets named Mermaid and Neptune ; it creates self-esteem in a district that is often disregarded as “entertainment”; and it lets artistic New Yorkers find self-expression in public
Unlike most parades, this one has no ethnic, religious, or commercial aims. It’s a major New York holiday invented by artists! An American version of the summer-solstice celebration
