It is going to be in the 30*'s tonight in South Florida......so we brought out Lucula Palm inside for the night..............
This palm has been moved many times until it found it's home inside our screen room.....we were told it was a shade palm, but it is in full sun now, with only the screen room as a barrier...and it is happy.
You know how a certain song brings you to a moment in your life? Well plants do that for us too. It takes to the day we bought it, tiny and struggling and to the journey it has made around the yard, looking for the perfect place to thrive. And we are not taking any chances with the cold......
Being surrounded by simple things you love that bring pleasant memories is a GOOD thing. And helps us get through the days that are not so good.
For us........this plant has more value than aesthetics or the shade provided. And we recipricate the feeling it gives us by carrying it in on the nights that may not recognize the value it has for us.

Rockin' the blizzard gear. Tried to find a sled the other day, too, but (unsurprisingly) everyone's sold out at the moment. I wonder if I could find an old fast food tray lying around somewhere....

An overcast, windy, cold day did not deter this woman and her friends from parking themselves on the beach for the day. Her cheeks are red from the cold, cold wind blowing there.

Hidden for view - three homeless individuals about to spend a cold night under the bridge - a pair of old benches for a bed - the porta potti left unlocked by the construction crew - temps only dropped to the mid 20's - a damp cold night - This year will be the first in over ten years with no cold weather shelters for those in need of a warm place - winter weather here can be brutally cold dropping well below zero
On Saturday and Sunday (my birthday) I celebrated my 50th at home in Oxford. For the occasion I had a small private dispay of a number of my paintings and drawings dating back to 1964!
It was great to meet up and share the time with a few of mt Flickr friends who live in the area.

12 degrees this morning in Prescott Az. Here a small patch of sunlight melts ice on the roof. Of course it is early January and cold is normal.
I have gathered the necessary warm things for tomorrow morning at the Yard. The low tonight for Northern California will be about 29 degrees. So the building will be about 35 degrees - the heater still does not work for longer than an hour and a half. I found my lined boots and then I'm also going to wear a wool shawl as well as a faux fur funnel scarf and long socks. Brrr!!!
