Common name: Bush Clock Vine, King's Mantle
Botanical name: Thunbergia erecta (syn. Meyenia erecta)

Origin: Tropical Africa
An upright shrub with dark green leaves and an abundant display of trumpet shaped purple flowers with yellow throats. It can be grown as a bush with weeping branches or it can be trained like a vine. It is not always easy to come by in the nursery. The flowers are absolutely wonderful and it seems to bloom from early spring until late summer or fall.

Now take the clock away for repair, but I thing taking the clock tower is a bit of killer. Or was it that bad?
The Wells Cathedral clock is an astronomical clock in the north transept of Wells Cathedral, England. The clock is one of the group of famous 14th to 16th century astronomical clocks to be found in the West of England.
Built around 1392 and has been in almost continuous use ever since. It is the second-oldest surviving clock in England (the oldest is at Salisbury Cathedral).
In the 1600s the original horizontal swinging beam mechanism called a foliot balance was replaced by a pendulum and anchor escapement to improve timekeeping. The clock also drove a display of automata figures which can still be seen at Wells every 15 minutes.

A dandelion clock where just one of the seeds is in focus.
The name Dandelion is given to species of the genus Taraxacum where the 'flowers' are morphologically a composite flower head consisting of many tiny flowers called florets. The flower matures into a globe of fine filaments that are usually distributed by wind, carrying away the seed-containing achenes. This globe (receptacle) is called the "clock".
The dandelion is native to Europe and Asia, and has spread to many other places.Taraxacum species reproduce asexually by means of apomixis and seed production commonly occurs without pollination.
From my first roll of Tri-X 400, and the first roll I put through the "new" Pentax MX. I inherited this clock from my mother when she died in 2003. Hand-made by Virgil Colony in 1979.
I think I'm digging the Tri-X grain, and I know I'm digging this old Pentax A-series 50/1.7 lens, which I bought several months ago and hadn't used until now...
Day Five in Norway ... back on dry land, in Tromsø.
A cable car goes up to mount Storsteinen, 420 metres (1,380 feet) above sea level, with a stunning panoramic view over Tromsø.
There is a lovely cafeteria at the top ... warm and friendly. We stayed there for lunch, as it was midday by then.
The man in the cable car said there was an avalanche warning of 3 which they were upgrading to 4 ... not here by the hut, but further up on the mountain and on the sides.
We weren't sure what the view would be like with all the snow, but miraculously it cleared as soon as we got up to the top!
Tinker has been fascinated with the clock, he stood for at least 15 minutes just staring, ears moving but that was all, his feet stayed planted in the same position, he wasn't aware we were watching him at all..several other times today he has run back when the clock chimed....I would love to understand what he is thinking..
Tsar Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna purchased the Imperial clock jointly in 1896, very shortly after their marriage. The clock's vibrant blue enamal surface represents the color of true love.
The astronomical clock in clock court at Hampton Court. I skewed the photo to make it appear to be taken at my level, hence some distortion in the surrounding stone.
Still functioning, the clock shows the time of day, the phases of the moon, the month, the quarter of the year, the date, the sun and star sign, and high water at London Bridge.
