The famous clocks at Canary Wharf from a recent visit by Caroline and myself to London.

We took loads of pictures having the time to review them is quite challenging time wise.

Architectural detail of the clock atop the 307-foot-tall Main Building at the University of Texas at Austin. Along the bottom of the image, one can see bullet holes from police officers returning the fire of mass murderer Charles Whitman during his 1966 massacre that left 16 people dead and a further 32 injured.

This was a very thoughtful gift for Christmas from one of my coworkers ... sitting at my desk now reminding me that it is always time to be out taking photographs :)))

Victorian Clock Tower, Scarborough UK

The Prague astronomical clock, or Prague orloj (Czech: Pražský orloj [praʃskiː orloj]), is a medieval astronomical clock located in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. The clock was first installed in 1410, making it the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest one still working.

Clock Tower, Horseshoe Barracks, Shoebury. Through the arch is the parade ground and the old barracks, now converted, as is much of the garrison, to generally up-market civilian dwellings. Some military relics such as this arch and clock tower remain together with some artistically scattered cannons on new brick plinths.

The garden is now filled with dandelion clocks, though not the big, white, fluffy ones that we are used to. These are taller, with narrower stems and darker, courser seeds. I was struggling with the in-camera WB, and no matter what I did the seeds looked white like the normal dandelions, but they are closer to this warm, brown colour, much like they are after post processing.

Did you know that the word dandelion comes from the French 'dent de lion' meaning 'lion's tooth' in reference to the toothed leaves?

The most precious thing you can get from someone you love is their time.

It's not the words, it's not the flowers, it's not the gifts. It is the time.

Because that doesn't come back and what he gave to you is yours alone, no matter if it was an hour or a lifetime.

Looking Close... on Friday

There is a broken clock on a tree in the woods near where we live. I've been photographing it every couple of years. It's a timeless beauty.

At this site in 1834, thousands marched to support the Tolpuddle Martyrs. The clock tower was built in 1855 by the Metropolitan Cattle Market as a centrepiece. The cattle market has since been replaced by Smithfield's Meat Market and is now a recreational park.

Taken for this week's Macro Mondays theme 'Timepieces'. The face of this small carriage clock is about 4 " in diameter. I liked the way that using a light source at the side threw the shadows of the hands across the face.
