Not really in the mood today. To be honest, if it hadn't been for the 365 I would probably have gone to bed at eight o'clock! As it is, I was staring into space and my old Hippocampus dandelion clock paperweight caught my eye. I love this paperweight - I bought it when I was a teenager, probably in about 1988, and I always wanted the matching thistle. But you know, life got in the way ;)

Wasn't quite sure how to capture it, so in the truly professional way that photographers do, I grabbed the nearest black thing (which happened to be a stack of tissue paper), cut a hole in the centre and laid this on top of my ikea fluorecent lamp (which was by now on it's back across the top of the waste paper bin in the living room!)

I don't know exactly what this means... wait, that is being too literal. I mean I understand the subject ... no wait no I don't. I mean the tags say a 747. Out the window maybe? No... Rob wouldn't imply someting only in his eye... wait he might. I want to go the easy route and say this is about time on a clock.

Yes... that is what I will do. Oh wait... no I mean I could but maybe I shouldn't. Wait ... ummm. Damn! No I mean everything's cool. Well I mean I' m cool with this... the broader picture I mean. Well... ummm yeah .-)

Years ago, my father (who loves clocks) gave me a small Lexon alarm clock (side note: Lexon makes incredilby cool looking clocks). A couple of months ago, the second hand fell off. I mentioned this to my father, and he convinced me that repairing it would be straight-forward - and he was right. The only tricky thing was making sure that the alarm hand matched up with the time, but I worked that out.

A small strip mall was built near me about ten years ago. The "tower" isn't much of a tower, but there is a clock that used to tell the correct time. Neither it nor the one on the sign was correct when I went past them today.

The V&A Waterfront Clock Tower is situated in the Cape Town harbour close by to the site of the original Bertie's Landing Restaurant. This red and white building is instantly recognisable by its Victorian Gothic-style architecture has always been an icon of the old docks and has become an important focal point in the Waterfront's recent urban design. Much of its charm lies in the fact that this busy commercial harbour is set in the midst of a huge entertainment venue with waterfront restaurants, specialty shops, craft markets, theatres and movies.

I had this old clock case, an 8-day movement and some other bits and put them together. Mystery surrounds the 'CALEDONIAN REGISTERED' movements, possibly made in Birmingham around 1880. I thought it looked nice and deserved to be seen.

This clockface on the east side of the tower of the parish church of St Thomas & St Edmund, Salisbury, Wiltshire, was recently renovated. It had previously been restored in 1982 and the names of the churchwardens of that time, Roger Hardy and June Elizabeth Watson, are inscribed above the jacks ( which were also restored).

By 2012 it was clear that more work was now needed and a Penrith company, The Cumbria Clock Company, carried out the work, re-painting the face on stainless steel but faithfully following the earlier design. those who worked on the restoration were David McVicar and Luke Ridge of the Cumbria company and it was finally lifted into place by steeplejacks, Arthur Needham and Richard Martin.
