This clock was put in place in 1874, and ran until 2011. The clock was created by Edward Dent, who also designed London’s Big Ben. At over 40 metres high, the Clock Tower was the tallest structure in Cardiff in Victorian times and contains a series of apartments over seven floors.
Building on the site of Cardiff Castle began almost 2,000 years ago and culminated in the nineteenth century with the fantastical High Gothic structure that we see today. The present Cardiff Castle evolved from a house owned by the 3rd Marquis of Bute who enlisted the extraordinary skills of the architect William Burges (1827–81) to redesign the structure and its interiors. Burges unveiled designs for the tower exterior and its interiors at the Royal Academy in 1870.
The theme of the Clock Tower is time. Set to either side of the large, cast iron clocks on each face of the tower are seven over life-sized figures representing the planets as Roman gods. The figures stand on pedestals and hold attributes relating to their sign of the Zodiac. Portrayed in medieval costume, the gods are Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sol, Venus, Mercury, and Luna.

So apparently I forgot to rotate this photo. Oh well, I'm not about to change it now. My grandparents have always had this big old grandfather clock and so I'm glad to see they still have it with them at their new place in Sidney. It doesn't require electricity but runs based on these three weights slowly moving down over the course of a few days. There's my reflection in the background.

The Clock Tower of the Houses of Parliament in London at night. This photo was taken from the western face during my European road trip in 2004. The tower is artifically lit from the base, with trees silhouetted in the foreground.
The name "Big Ben" originally referred to the largest bell (also called the "Great Bell") inside the tower, rather than the tower itself. The tower is 316 feet tall, and was designed in a neo-gothic style by Augustus Pugin. Its clock has been keeping time since 1859.
The Darlington hour and quarter hour bells were cast by Warner and Sons, who also cast the original London Big Ben hour bell in 1856, which cracked.
Fortunately, the Darlingon bells have proven up to the task over the years and have suffered no such damage.

Clock Tower square, Norzin Lam, Thimphu
Clock Tower Square has a tower with four clock faces located in Thimphu, capital of Bhutan. It is a famously known landmark in Thimphu. There are many shops, hotels and restaurants surrounding the square.
The clock tower square is located below Norzin Lam, Thimphu above the national football stadium in the heart of the capital.
The Clock-tower has a typical Bhutanese architectural outlook with rich Bhutanese carvings and paintings. There are traditional hand crafted dragon with golden painting on all the four faces of the tower which symbolizes the county as an independent dragon kingdom. The tower has beautiful paintings and carvings of flowers which add more magnificence to the tower. The shops, restaurants and hotels in the clock tower square have a blend of fine traditional and modern architectural Bhutanese design with multi-coloured wood frontages, small arched windows, and sloping roofs. The buildings around the square are all small three storied structures.

Today Jackie and I walked Ruby in the two nearest woods so on this lovely day I took a number of images of flowers leaves a butterfly a clock two ladybirds and then a Jay which has been rather played with lots.

Not really in the mood today. To be honest, if it hadn't been for the 365 I would probably have gone to bed at eight o'clock! As it is, I was staring into space and my old Hippocampus dandelion clock paperweight caught my eye. I love this paperweight - I bought it when I was a teenager, probably in about 1988, and I always wanted the matching thistle. But you know, life got in the way ;)
Wasn't quite sure how to capture it, so in the truly professional way that photographers do, I grabbed the nearest black thing (which happened to be a stack of tissue paper), cut a hole in the centre and laid this on top of my ikea fluorecent lamp (which was by now on it's back across the top of the waste paper bin in the living room!)

I used an old Canon optical image stabilizer lens [EF-S 17-85mm 1:4-5.6 IS USM] on an EOS 450D DSLR. With exposures of up to a 1/4 of a second, most of the images had to be discarded, and the remainder are very "grainy" / "noisy", but the pictures at least form a sort of record of the event...

Rob wouldn't imply someting only in his eye... wait he might. I want to go the easy route and say this is about time on a clock.
Yes... that is what I will do. Oh wait... no I mean I could but maybe I shouldn't. Wait ... ummm. Damn! No I mean everything's cool. Well I mean I' m cool with this... the broader picture I mean. Well... ummm yeah .-)
