This clock was put in place in 1874, and ran until 2011. The clock was created by Edward Dent, who also designed London’s Big Ben. At over 40 metres high, the Clock Tower was the tallest structure in Cardiff in Victorian times and contains a series of apartments over seven floors.
Building on the site of Cardiff Castle began almost 2,000 years ago and culminated in the nineteenth century with the fantastical High Gothic structure that we see today. The present Cardiff Castle evolved from a house owned by the 3rd Marquis of Bute who enlisted the extraordinary skills of the architect William Burges (1827–81) to redesign the structure and its interiors. Burges unveiled designs for the tower exterior and its interiors at the Royal Academy in 1870.
The theme of the Clock Tower is time. Set to either side of the large, cast iron clocks on each face of the tower are seven over life-sized figures representing the planets as Roman gods. The figures stand on pedestals and hold attributes relating to their sign of the Zodiac. Portrayed in medieval costume, the gods are Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sol, Venus, Mercury, and Luna.

The buildings around the square are all small three storied structures.
The Victoria Clock Tower, or Lorloz as it is better known in Creole, is the most prominent feature of Seychelles’ small capital, and has acted as a focal point for nearly 100 years. While all around massive transformation has taken place in the town centre, with modern buildings of concrete and glass springing up, the Clocktower has remained virtually unchanged.

We were stopped by a group of tween girls with a humongous SLR camera. They asked to photograph Jeff for a scavenger hunt. Turns out they needed a bearded man, but mom was the only one who actually explained. I thought they just needed a picture of a hot guy.

I used an old Canon optical image stabilizer lens [EF-S 17-85mm 1:4-5.6 IS USM] on an EOS 450D DSLR. With exposures of up to a 1/4 of a second, most of the images had to be discarded, and the remainder are very "grainy" / "noisy", but the pictures at least form a sort of record of the event...

After locking myself out of my flat one day, i strolled around the city for a couple hours hunting down a spare set of keys. On my journey i found this abandoned broken watch with the dials frozen in time. I gathered some fallen leaves and set up this frame back home.

The installers are 4 hours late to install our pellet stove. Good thing we have absolutely nothing to do today and are able to put our lives on hold for them while we sit around and wait.
