With railfans going around sharing their pictures on social media everyday now and it being a normal thing, it quite a normal occurrence seeing different railroads and motive power through are feeds. Of course this is something I myself part take in as well and see all these railroads others get to shoot on a regular basis. As a normal Virginia railfan who shoot his class 1 and handful of shortline in the area, I’ve always wanted to see other class 1s with their unique power sets. This dream was recognized on my summer trip to Michigan back in 2022. Me and my buddy Charlie went down to Indiana for a day to see what we could grab. Are first stop was Gary, Indiana, where a massive CN yard is located. With it being my second day out on the rails, I was blasted with Grand Truck engines, Illinois Central SD70s, and EJ&E SD38-2s. I couldn’t believe it, it was so cool to see in person. Here one of the shots I was able to grab, GTW 4927 sitting in the yard with IC 1002 & 1021.
NS V62 begins to leave Crewe Virginia and clears Oaks with two AC44C6M rebuilds leading the train. Had a little fun with this train. Chased him from Crewe then Oaks and went down the road with him. Caught him about four time, the crew and me got along with his train horn and my car horn lol.

As I come to the classic Portlock road crossing, i capture NS 811 beginning its trip back to the mines with two EMD yelling through South Norfolk. Nice to see a UP on this train let alone a SD70M. Coal/Hopper trains are quit rare to see with foreign power so this was a nice treat.
My Lego model of a Southern Pacific MT-5. The real MT-5's were built between 1929 and 1930 in Southern Pacific's Sacramento shops. While they were originally built for passenger service, they soon became mixed traffic engines as more powerful engines; such as the GS class, took on the role of pulling passenger trains. Unfortunately, there are no surviving MT class locomotives. I specifically modelled #4369 as it appeared in 1946
NS 745 seen here going through Spencer, North Carolina with a AC44C6M leading one of the WFRX Mac trailing. At the time of posting this NS had leased out 35 WFRX Mac to deal with a power shortage. They were on roster for about a year until they started getting gather up in 2024 of April to be sent back WFRX.
NS 271 pulls into east end portlock with the Erie heritage unit leading. The crew was out of time and was very tired and got picked up shortly after and a new crew pick up the Erie and put it on V07.
Also side note, what i can only assume are bad orders coal cars on the side tracks.
After holding up the Trenton Sub for over 2 hours, westbound mixed freight Q301 is finally back underway with a pair of GEs for power as the cruise along Lincoln Hwy in Langhorne, PA
ACCA yard in Richmond, Virginia has been very busy the last couple of day. We see as the day dies down and the yard job is able to work the yard without any interference from mainline trains. 8254 is passing by the yard office with Y122 & L134 power sitting idle waiting for tomorrows trains.
I think its pretty clear that i was here for the 4419.. With YN2 fading every other day, YN2 on EMD engines is next to impossible to find. At the time of posting this there are only 9 EMD YN2 engines left on roster. 4 of which are in storage. 4419 is one of two GP40-2 left in serves on CSX with a nice, Clean YN2 coat of paint on display.
a long 275 pulls up past bridge 5 with a nice lash up in south Norfolk. Wasn't expecting this train but it was a nice surprise, even got a AC60CW which are some of my favorite locos.
The #617, one of the CSX's AC6000CW has been selected to head this eastbound coal unit on the former B&O running through the eastern Ohio's countrysides. (6/12/16)

Pac Man and Dual Flag SD40-2s with a SOO caboose cross over the Craw Fish River in Hubbleton, WI on their way westward into the Waterloo pits.
Not sure on the symbol of this train but a CSX manifest begins to leave Collier in Petersburg Virginia with a ES40DC leading wearing the new paint scheme of csx.
The Belt Line has a lot of Railroad equipment laying down Infront of their yard offices. Decided to try and incorporate it into my shot here. NS 5113 is seen sitting here with a CSX Tier four behind him waiting for action.
The first half of this train was a mixed freight, then a DPU, and finally a string of double stacks made up the second half.
NS 811 rolls around the corner near the belt line diamond with a double up coal train with over 200 cars and 2 DPU's. I new the crew on bored this train and was able to get some waves from the crew today.
My G Scale model of NS 1700 in Erie Lackawanna livery was just finished and had its first day on the rails in the backyard this afternoon.
NS 273 finish's building his train in portlock and begins to crawl west out of portlock. 276 brought in some nice power this morning with a Union Pacific AC60CW, a Canadian National SD75I, and a rebuild Union Pacific AC44CW. i had a gut feeling that they were going to flip the power and immediately put it on a west bound witch prove to be right.
I would like to make it very clear, yes this is a NS road. I don't condone trespassing but I wanted to run down the road real quick to see this train. Trespass at your own risk and i don't think less of you if you do, but i recommend to not follow in my footsteps.
two NS coal trains sit in Roanoke South yard with two C6M leaders. I guess the crew left the ditch light on #4046 because I came back the next morning and they were still on.
