I recently made a trip out to Altoona and back. It took a few days to soak in the many stops, but I started my trip in Mexico, PA. A small farming town near Port Royal, PA.
I caught this single EMD leader on a nice manifest freight. I captured some nice graffiti on this train as it rolled past me.
Yes, I saw the "graffiti" done by cleaning something into the dirt on the nose of the loco. LOL

NS V62 pulls into CSX Collier yard in Petersburg Virginia with two SD70M-2 leading the train. The two are holding on for dear life with NS selling most of the M-2 leaving only 46 of them remaining. I'm Very grateful that I'm able to see these things move, I started railfanning in a time were these engines were already retired.
For unknown reasons, a CSX grain train sit next to Virginia Ave in Portsmouth. Didn't realized it at the time but the fresh rebuild Mac was the ex Spirt of Nashville unit. It sadly doesn't have its special feature anymore but its still cool to see a Mac leader.
L227 builds its train in Collier yard with two geeps leading the way. Was waiting on V62 but he never showed but this was a nice substitute.
First things first, i would like to say, not my best work. I wish i could have done a bit better but the sun was not on my side today. Oh well you win some you lose some. This is CSX I136 heading straight to PIT with Engineer Tony Dawson waving the whole way down the line. Breaking even on CSX heritage units right now.
This NS intermodal freight crosses Yellow Breeches Creek and heads down the Lurgan Branch.
I believe I heard this train call symbol NS 27A on the radio.
A CSX intermodal rounds a curve at Valparaiso Indiana with three BNSF H2 dash 9s leading the charge down to Wellsboro.
This train really put a simile on my face, H2 has always been my personal favorite paints scheme from BNSF and being able to see three of them in action with my friend was awesome.
It was especially nice to see this train sense me and Charlie had no luck at the Wellsboro diamond with us only catching a hand full of trains. We designed to head to the NS but on are way Charlie spotted a green signal so we found the nearest crossing and waited about 10 minutes and this showed up out of no where.
A veteran YN2 GE leads westbound Q272 through the SEPTA station at Yardley, PA on a comfortable spring evening. The section of the platform in the photo is nearing completion and will wrap up the construction project at Yardley that has been going on for a few years now.
A Norfolk Portsmouth Belt Line trains comes off the NIT line and into Berkeley yard on a overcast afternoon with NS 5113 crossing over bainbridge Blvd in South Norfolk. I’ve really do missing posting NPBL stuff. Documenting stuff that would run on the shortline was something I was passionate about sharing and feel like I haven’t do enough, manly contribute to me not being happy with my shots of them but I plan to share some more stuff here soon.

NS NV03 switch’s through the mains and begins to back into portlock seen here at liberty street here in south Norfolk. Another thing to note is this is the first NS SD40-3 unit to make its way to the Norfolk district.
This was the first time I got to see the new AML GP60. This one belongs to my friend Andrew and he brought it to our mutual friend Kyle's garden railroad open house. It looks nice and ran well, but somehow I don't think I need to get one.
The NS hopper is one I weathered for my friend Kyle.

NS 816 rolls by Park ave right outside Portlock with an ACe leader. This was a double up coal train with two DPUs in the middle which is uncommon for the Norfolk sub. caught me off guard when the Nickel Plate Road was the second DPU on the train and had to chase it down to Lamberts point.
After switching out its train at Martin siding, the UP Reno Local is heading down a spur toward the Reno Stead Airport. The train had arrived at Martin on the Reno Branch trackage on the hill in the background.
This spur served an industrial park that hosted JC Penney’s new western distribution center. At the time, JC Penney’s choice to locate their facility at this site had produced a notable increase in traffic on the Reno Branch.

CSX C219-28 is comes crashing into Lee hall on the peninsula with, at the time, relatively new NYC heritage unit coming down to the piers.
Im happy with this shot. Its not perfect, lots of nitpicks i would like to point out. However this was a really fun memory for me. Was chilling at the HO club with a group of buddy and i remembered one of us check Facebook to see this was coming down to Lee hall very soon. Three of us went to Lell Hall and saw it pretty fresh. This was the first ever CSX Heritage unit to make its way to Newport News so i was very pleased to be able to document it.
Yes, Yes it was
NS 273 after waiting for locals to clear and having PTC problems, finally makes it to George Washington Highway with six engines all facing elephant style.
I woke up at 6:30 for the shot and the train didn't show up until 2:10. I spent those hour looking for the BNSF engine with no luck. I spent hours at Portlock look for it but came empty handed. However I knew it was around because I heard 273 on the scanner. Finally i founds them with a bonus three dash nines which put a smile on my face. I then had to figure out where i wanted to shoot the train at. I was thinking about a field shot but i had just shot that spot and wanted something new. So i designed to finally shoot on the George Washington Highway Bridge. Thinking the train would be here in the next 20 minutes, i waited on top of the bridge for the train; However, The lead unit started having PTC problems so that held them up a bit. Im super happy with this shot even though it very basic, No one i know of has shot here so im glad i was able to do it some justice

Nikon D800 & Nikkor 16-35mm f/4 @ f/10
I finally caught a train over the bridge in decent light. It was a WB, when I would rather have an EB in this light, but for now I'll take it.
Of note is that the containers at the head end are hauling trash.

CP 6043 sits stalled on the hill at Elm Grove with an over 9000 foot 247. Somehow the train escaped Bensenville with only two SD40-2s for power. I’m not sure what they expected to happen.
Just to the East of Hershey Park, there is a small railyard with lots of freight cars for Hershey Foods. But the mainline is where the action really heats up as seen with this passing high-seed intermodal freight.
Empty hopper train NS 776 heads West down the Lurgan Branch. NS 1060 is the leader with NS 4290 (seen here) as the helper on the rear.
