After all the rain fall recently, the waterfalls in the Brecon Beacon national park are well and truly gushing. Can't wait to come back here in the spring when its not such a raging torrent and I might have more rock to stand on so I can compose my shot better :)

Hey all. I've been away visiting beautiful places like this so I do apologise for my lack of commenting.

I hope you're all well and have a good week to look forward too.

The one waterfall in all of West Virginia that I've anticipated shooting the most is Brush Creek Falls in the southern end of the state, not far from Pipestem Resort. I had been there once before this past spring, but didn't do much photography due to the large volume of water gushing over the falls. These falls need to be visited in Autumn, when the leaves have turned gold and the water flows this way and that, over the many rocks and ledges. But if you truly want to fully appreciate their elegance and grace, you need to cross over to the other side, where the falls take on a beautiful personality all of their own. If you do the Facebook thing, check out my Facebook photography page and give it a "Like".

A stunning morning in the Trossachs today. The temperature was -7C and the air was clear and crisp.

The snow-covered mountain is Ben Venue with a summit of 729 m shown here reflected in the icy, still waters of Loch Achray.

Another shot from West Burton Falls, North Yorkshire. The long exposure (25 seconds) was purely the result of the early morning lack of light; no ND filters were used (only a circular polariser).

Photographer Carl T. Loveall used our WonderPana 145mm Circular Polarizing Filter to capture this stunning seven photo stitched panorama of Castle Lichtenstein, in Germany. Click here to learn more about our WonderPana Filters: fotodioxpro.com/collections/wonderpana

By getting right up to water's edge and using a polarizing filter I was able capture the magnificent lake-bed colours and shapes, seen through the calm, clear Lake Superior water

Columnar basalt creates an organ pipe effect and frames the beautiful drop of Svartifoss in Skaftafell National Park, Iceland. The abundant spray created a rainbow for a few minutes when the sun angle was just right.

Similar to what I've seen in the U.S. and in many other countries, tourists here were not fond of sticking to the established routes, obeying the 'Area Closed' signs, or really bothering to read the Park use guidance whatsoever. In fact, a gentleman stood right next to the 'No Drones' sign flying a drone. I suppose this sort of behavior goes hand in hand with the desire to 'figure it out' rather than read the instruction manual or follow a recipe. However, when it comes to tourism in delicate places, this sort of mindset results in a slow degradation of the experience one has come to seek.

Happy Earth Day to all, and our dear Mother needs us to think of her every day!

The mighty 'Boochle' bathed in early morning sunshine. The Coupall river in the foreground has some interesting colours in the crystal clear (but VERY cold) water.

Hand blended 3 bracketed jpg exposures from Húsafell.

Skradinski Buk waterfall in Krka national park, Croatia.

This panorama is composed from 25 images (5 brackets of 5 images each). I combined these into an HDR Pano using Lightroom, and processed the resulting RAW file (dng) in AuroraHDR, made some slight adjustments in Luminar, and did some touch up in Photoshop with Lumenzia.

Using bracketing and merging exposures let me deal with the high dynamic range present due to the sunlight directly hitting foliage/water in the scene.

After waiting out a heavy downpour, my wife and I took a walk along the river as the sun set. She had mentioned a few blooming trees along the road that might be of interest. So nice to have a great backdrop!

This navigation buoy has room to share. There was a cute little sea lion pup behind the one dozing in front that I swear was smiling at us. I couldn't get a clear shot. You can see three of the four sea lions on the buoy.

Happy Monochrome Monday :)

April, I see you leaving

I don't know what silence means

It could mean anything

I dream

I dream

April, April

Did I want you?

Did I want change?

April, your rain overcomes me (*)

This must be the remotest feeling place I've visited for my Hidden Wales project yet. The medieval 15th century ruin of St.Mary's glows in the late afternoon sunshine of a cold November day.

A late afternoon sun catches this lovely tree over the River Almond, near Cramond, Edinburgh, Scotland.

It was a very high tide today and so the leaves of this tree were brushing the surface of the river adding to the quality of the reflection.

The clouds were building up; moving fast. I set up the camera on a tripod and kicked back for lunch while waiting for the light to hit just the aspen trees. The light at 1:00pm was really harsh so I digitally blended this from two shots one at 0 step and one at -1 step

D72_2017-07-17_0019 Something of an experiment, I took this at a very small aperture with a circular polarizer and a higher ISO in order to keep everything in focus. In processing, all I did was brighten a bit and crop it slightly. There is no HDR involved here, at all.
