Incredible Crepuscular rays greeted me as I made myself comfortable on the cliff overlooking the cove.
They stayed just long enough for me to throw on a circular polariser before the clouds blew away and the rays faded. The sunset that followed was stunning.
We had a great day in the early spring to walk through the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes. This photo was with a circular polarizer that made the sky a deeper blue and the bright white clouds pop. We had a lot of fun walking through the sand and up and down the dunes in Death Valley National Park.
A cold morning in the Trossachs region of Scotland. The body of water is Loch Venachar; the distant, snow covered mountain is Ben Venue.

Engine 475 just pulled away from Groff's Station headed for Stasburg, PA. This was the first time that I've seen two trains being run at the same time at this location.
The way I edited this photo, I went for a "Postcard" look. How'd I do?
Seen here is an extremely fine example of the Cessna 120. Even though this one was built in 1947, it looks more like it rolled off the assembly line in 2007. It was extra hazy out yesterday and I wasn't sure how the shots were going to turn out, but I slapped the polarizer on everything was fine!

By getting right up to water's edge and using a polarizing filter I was able capture the magnificent lake-bed colours and shapes, seen through the calm, clear Lake Superior water

These falls are reached by a 1.5 mile hike from the Sinks. Lower Meigs Falls are visible from the road, but where's the fun in that?

It's all about that tropical light! At only 11 degrees north of the equator it has a completely different look and feel than sunlight in northern USA.

went by the South Loop early this morning and was greeted by this awesome cloud formation hovering over the city...the early morning light bouncing off the clouds was just splendid...joggers were actually stopping to capture the scene with their cellphones and had smiles on their faces...just another gorgeous early summer morning in this great city of ours!!!

My timing was just about right as I arrived up on Mounds Blvd to capture the sunset this evening. The river provided enough calm to provide a healthy reflection. Enjoy!
I finally caught some Crepuscular Rays in one of my sunset photos. w00t!
I don't remember exactly where this was taken, I think it's just north of Chickie's Rock. But I can tell you it's MUCH better Large.
We landed in Anchorage later in the evening and then drove down to visit my brother and his wife in Homer, the next morning. The Turnagain Arm was our first glimpse of the "Ruthless Beauty", that is Alaska, a term we would continue to use during our visit. The tide was low and you can spot the silhouette of the mountain's reflection in the foreground.
My friends and I are big fans of traveling around beautiful places. This time we were on the way through the South of Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine. This area has the largest concentration of old castles and fortresses in Ukraine surrounded by beautiful mountains and rivers.

This is "Lake Amboseli" Large. It's just a bit dry and when it is, it is used as a shortcut through Amboseli National Park. Its as flat as it is dusty and as dusty as it is flat. It was really fun to speed through it and kick up dust clouds knowing that I wasn't harming anything because as soon as it rains, water will cover all tracks.
Pink - it's my new obsession
Pink - it's not even a question,
Pink - on the lips of your lover
(oh)
'Cause Pink is the love you discover
Pink - it was love at first sight
Yeah, Pink - when I turn out the light
And Pink gets me high as a kite
And I think everything is going to be all right
No matter what we do tonight (*)
Stay tuned because the lights will go on soon :)
And if you are wondering... no, I am not starting to dress pink. Unless it's a pink tutu or a pink submarine, 'cause we all live in a pink submarine, pink submarine, pink submarine!

After rain storms pounded the Valley all day, I re-visited a composition I'd shot the previous day, hoping for some color. I got a lot more than I bargained for! It was an incredible scene.
There's a cloud
There's a cloud
A blue sky darkening
That veils the light of the sun
And foretells the rain
But there's a bird
There are birds
And some are singing
To greet every new day that may come
Like the first of spring (*)
More hippy spring shots.

When you see me standing in here
Cause I didn't walk alone
There are pieces of you landing in here
Somehow to make me whole
Cause you
You're the darker side of the moon
Always in the shadows
Leaving me to shine shine shine
You're the one who carried me through
Held me in the sky
Leaving me to shine shine
Any time you pushed me
When it felt like too much
I know it made me grow
And looking from the distance
At a person who
Who I wouldn't know
Chorus:
But you
You're the darker side of the moon
Always in the shadows
Leaving me to shine shine shine
You're the one who carried me through
Held me in the sky
Leaving me to shine
From the stretches of the world
And more perspective than I wished for
You showed that there is more
Than what a ???
You never question worth
You made a path wherever I go
Giving far more than I asked for
Oh you
You're the darker side of the moon (the darker side)
Always in the shadows
Leaving me to shine shine shine
You're the darker side of the moon
Always in the shadows
Shine shine shine(leave, leaving me to shine)
You're the one who carried me through
Held me in the sky
Leaving me to shine shine
Shine

This is the historic Rockville Bridge, which at its completion in 1902, was longest stone masonry arch railroad viaduct in the world.
The colors were fun to play with in post. This was towards the tail-end of the "Golden Hour" and the "Blue Hour" was just beginning. This resulted in a blueish-purple hue that cast itself over the area. The long exposure enhanced this effect.
I also found a defect in my Nikon 18-70 mm lens. Looks like another lens package is going to be sent off this week. This time it should be under warranty. ;)

I've had this building on my list ever since I figured out it had a cool courtyard detail in the back. I finally got around to it yesterday, but I couldn't quite shoot it as I had planned. I had wanted to take it from across the street but a tree was just enough in the way I had to take it from the sidewalk directly in front. The problem was I really needed to be in the street but with cars moving in and out of the spots I had to go as close to the street as possible on the sidewalk. After a couple frames a construction vehicle pulled in and basically blocked me off from the camera, so I ended up finishing off the frames reaching over the fender from the side and I couldn't see the results until I got back to my car. I probably could have squared this up better if I had more time to analyze results and make adjustments, but considering the circumstances I'm lucky I got anything at all.
