I attended the priesthood session of the LDS Church's semiannual General Conference, which took place in Salt Lake City but was telecast via closed-circuit television to thousands of chapels around the world, including our stake center. Attendees were rewarded with a steak dinner prior to the meeting, but I only learned of the meal when I arrived about half an hour early. I had my camera with me because I intended to take some time exposures later, when the meeting was over and the cars started pulling out of the parking lot, so I decided to record this unusual, but not unheard-of, event. These are the chefs who prepared the meal, and a nice meal it was. Not good for my cholesterol level, perhaps, but certainly good for my morale, and my stomach.

 

I noted that I took this picture at just about the exact time Barney Madsen and the other priesthood holders in his extended family would be leaving his father's place at the end of THEIR meal, to start the brief walk over to the BYU Marriott Center, where they, too, would be watching the session on closed-circuit TV. Once again, I was unable to be physically present with them, although I certainly was in spirit. Perhaps I can join them for the next General Conference, to be held in April of 2007.

Chef's House is the training restaurant for chef's program at George Brown College here in Toronto. We had the most amazing meal there for lunch one Friday

This guy was setting the tables for his restaurant in the old part of Alicante, Spain.

He had a sympathetic personality, and a mysterious tattoo on his left, lower arm.

Getting a pose from him was easy, and his good temper stayed with me for some time that evening.
