Todavía recuerdo el momento en el que mis pies descalzos rozaron el primer peldaño de aquellas escaleras. Llevaba unas medias blancas y un maillot negro completamente ceñido a mi cuerpo, tenía 4 años y todavía necesitaba agarrarme a la barandilla para subir sin tambalearme hacia mi vida, el principio de mi sueño.
Arriba, mi mundo se convertía en una explosión de luz, en donde encontraba la paz y una perfecta armonía al ritmo de mi fiel tío Daniel que virtuosamente, acariciaba el piano de cola.
Los años pasan demasiado deprisa, pero recuerdo como si fuera ayer entusiasmadamente la primera vez que me sangraron los pies, todas y cada una de las veces en las que mis músculos han pedido un descanso a gritos. Y como no, todas aquellas veces en las que mi corazón era feliz. Como cuando te conocí.
A mis 24 años, descubrí que cuando veía mis escaleras favoritas, era libre, y cuando alcanzaba el piso superior, toda mi tristeza, preocupación, miedo o enfado desaparecían por completo. Conseguía transformarme en una muñeca de silueta de cristal y tobillos firmes que expresaba y transmitía aquello que se le pedía y más.
Aquel lugar, mi escondite, mi esfuerzo y pasión, se convirtió en mi paraiso particular, al que me gustaba acudir cuando la presión me invadía, descargando encima de mis ahora viejas puntas o en pleno contacto con el suelo, horas y horas de incomprensión y rabia.
El negro suelo de goma me comprendía y me regalaba marcas de experiencia que más tarde, una vez me hubiera despedido como cada día, de mis preciosas escaleras, debía curar y mimar hasta la proxima batalla.
Hasta el próximo baile.
Los años pasan demasiado deprisa, ¿verdad Carlos? y sin esperarle, llegó el momento de la firme y desesperada despedida. Aún joven, tenía que decirle adiós a mi sueño, a mis proyectos, a mi todo.
Me derrumbé como nunca, y me levanté como siempre.

tozuda y egoistamente hasta que las fuerzas se me escaparon y la pena arrasó.
Allí estabas tú, con los ojos brillantes mirándome desde la butaca en la que siempre te sentabas. Y ahí estaba yo, encima del escenario, sintiendo todavía "Moonlight sonata" correr por mis venas. Mi canción favorita, con la que empecé a vivir y terminé viviendo el 14 de Marzo de 1997.
Una parte de mi, siempre bailó para ti.
No espero que me perdones, yo no lo haría en tu lugar.
Eternamente tuya. Tu compañera y mujer, alumna, y fan indiscutible.

This is a long exposure. All of the 'flash' shots I took down in this basement look wrong somehow.
What is interesting about this old furnace, it was built in my old hometown of Carleton Place, Ontario! I lived there for 10 years before moving back to Calgary. I never thought I'd find a remnant of my past, in my present in an old farmhouse near where I live!

The chain ferry, over the Medina, is mainly referred to as the 'floating bridge.' It links the two sides of Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

food-chain is a research project by Oliver Watson and Henry Ireland, dealing with food from sociological, cultural, political and environmental perspectives.
Angler Eric Packard took a few casts on St Mary’s Lake on 10/7. I got a late start and had little hope in catching much at mid day, but it’s Fall and things are changing. Dead grasses floating and stained water in some areas. I ended up catching 11 largemouth bass, four pickerel (biggest was 25.5”) and a small yellow perch. Catching most fish on a jerk bait, a few on a square billed crankbait, and two bass on a shaky head jig. Catching in stump fields, over dying grass and off points.
Chains made for an easy climb up to the trailhead in the trucks. This time of year, chains make all the difference for easy access!

Hundreds of fast-food workers demanding $15-an-hour wages, better benefits and the right to unionize picketed outside of nine chain restaurants, including Burger King, McDonald’s, and Dunkin’ Donuts, and ended at a rally on Boston Common at which U.S. Senator Markey, Boston City Council members, and mayoral candidates spoke. Thousands of workers across the country joined in the one day strike. Over 3.6 million people work at more than 200,000 fast-food restaurants. They are paid about $9 an hour, on average — often with no benefits and irregular schedules.
