I've played with the saturation here and I like the stark look.

The book "Almost An Island" has some useful information on the camp at Greentoft for Deerness. It mentions an "outpost" at Sandside which is described as a small radar post close to the shore with a telephone line back to the main site. There were six to eight men there. Sandside is on the coast East of Deerness.
One of the 10cm dishes is said to be still on the island a few miles from the site. It was lying at the side of the road for many years then buried under turfs.
There is an Royal Observer Corps underground monitoring post by the site.
