My days are pretty full. I’m up early to exercise the dogs and usually have an evening activity. Of course, work happens in the middle. I’m currently training another sales consultant and I don’t know how I’m managing to fit it all in (as well as continue to blog!)

The Mercedes-Benz Citaro is a single-decker, rigid or articulated bus manufactured by Mercedes-Benz/EvoBus. Introduced in 1997, and available in a number of configurations and is in widespread use throughout Europe and parts of Asia, with more than 55,000 produced by December 2019
There are three basic versions of the Citaro available in 2019: The standard 12m Citaro, the shorter 10m Citaro K and the articulated 18m Citaro G
The CapaCity (also known as O530 GL) is a large-capacity articulated bus based on Citaro G, which was introduced in year 2007. The 1st generation CapaCity is 19.54m long and can carry up to 186 passengers. It features exactly the same turning circle as that of its shorter related Citaro G hanks actively steered electro hydraulic fourth axle. The safety is guaranteed by Electronic Braking System (EBS), anti-lock brakes (ABS), acceleration skid control (ASR), and the passenger comfort is improved by independent front suspensions. It is both available with 3 and 4 doors.
The second generation debuted in 2014, as the CapaCity L (long version) The shorter version "CapaCity" with a length of 19.7m was added later. They are all based on the modular system of Mercedes-Benz Citaro. The new feature "Articulation Turntable Controller" (ATC) prevents additionally from jackknifing. CapaCity L can carry 191 passengers with standard equipment, CapaCity 182 passengers.

The D-class (IB1) lifeboats are inflatable boats serving in the RNLI inshore lifeboat (ILB) fleet as well as a number of Independent Lifeboats around the UK and Ireland. Although they are known as the 'IB1' at times, they are the latest development of the D-class lifeboat and as such are mainly referred to as a 'D-class'.
This class of lifeboat is one of the smallest operated by the RNLI. Unlike other members of the ILB fleet, the D-class does not have a rigid hull.
The D-class normally has a crew of three or four and is primarily used for surfer/swimmer incidents as well as assisting in cliff incidents where the casualty is near the water. The very nature of its work requires a swift response, and the D-class can normally be afloat very quickly.
With no wheelhouse on the D-class lifeboat, the crew are exposed to the elements at all times and rely on their protective kit to keep them safe and warm. Many rescues take place at night and can involve being close to dangerous cliffs and manmade structures, or searching caves and crevices. In addition to night vision equipment, the D-class lifeboat carries a searchlight and parachute illuminating flares to light up the surrounding area, helping to keep crew members safe as well as locate those in need of help. Medical equipment is stowed in the bow pod and includes oxygen and full resuscitation kit, responder bag and multi-purpose ambulance pouch. In the event of a capsize, the D-class lifeboat can be righted manually by the crew and her 50 hp outboard engine restarted.

Who knew snow weighed so much?
This bridge holds 365 people without snow and 110 with. Snow is heavy.
I had this bridge all to myself for a few quick snaps before heading to the airport. Honestly, it was such a breathtakingly beautiful morning that the last thing I wanted was pictures of my boring ol’ outfit. It was comfortable, though, for the long flight from Anchorage to Sacramento (via Portland). Goodbye, Alaska! (I hope to be back.)

ADDITIONAL NOTES.
These high capacity aggregate wagons were originally owned by CAIB and leased to Railtrack Plc from new before the fleet was later sold to German leasing company VTG. There original use was for bulk railway ballast but since the advent of Network Rail who now use their own wagon fleet for such work they have passed into the general bulk aggregate sector. Many have seen use on the Cross Rail project carrying spoil away from London to various locations. They were considered to be conversions rather than new builds but original components are only really the bogies, brake gear and a few running components salvaged from former Croxton & Garry operated bulk cement and lime PDA wagons. The box body and underframe being new. Kingmoor Yard has two of them as long term residents stored but why they ended up here I am not sure. They possibly came north when DRS hired some ex Cross Rail Project wagons to move quarry slate waste from Barrow Docks to Drigg in 2016.

Background: After seeing both the devastation to outlying areas of space caused by the recent Great War, and the corruption within the Federal Defense Navy (working title) Admiralty, Captain David Courtland retired honorably from military service and went to helm his family’s generations old mining company, Kolter Mining, Refining, and Fuel; one of the largest mining companies in United Earth Federation space. (Working title.)
He wanted to take the company, already a reputable and successful business, in a new direction. That direction was the disputed, war-torn, no-man’s-waste-land of space known as The Divide, (working title) situated between the major powers of the galaxy. Life in The Divide was desperate, with little hope for the many people stranded in the ruins, poverty, and crime infested land. None of the major powers could intervene without starting another territorial war, and as such, pirates, gangs, and unscrupulous mega-corporations ruled supreme.
Courtland wanted to make a difference to this sorrowful place, and with trillions of credits and a Fortunes 1,000 company at his control, he had the means to at least begin; although even he lacked the ability to single-handedly remedy the myriad of woes The Divide faced.
David’s plan was simple, to move significant mining operations to The Divide, thus:
1: Creating new, safe, well-paying, good jobs for both an area and an industry that seldom offered such things.
2: Allowing for the placement of company security forces to deter pirate activity around major settlements.
3: Providing tax-free revenue to fund new schools, hospitals, food, water, shetler, and other charitable activities in The Divide.
But to do it, he required a new kind of mining vessel, as well as additional security forces. Thus he contacted Nelson Heavy Industries, who in turn partnered with AxonTech Interstellar Systems for some components, to place an order for a line of custom massive deep space mining operation flagships with enhanced combat capabilities and capable of operating in the remotest reaches of space for months or even years at a time. And so the Bessemer class was born.
The Bessemer class is unlike any mining vessel ever produced before it. Certainly significantly larger mining ships existed, but these were typically little more than unarmed, slow moving things with small engines; closer to a semi-mobile starbase than a combination frontier battleship/mining vessel. But Courtland required something unique. Something that could move faster, survive more punishment, and something that had teeth; not a fragile, barely moving thing that would only sit in safe areas of space. Courtland needed a mighty sheepdog in a world of sheep and wolves.
Bessemer class vessels are 1,844 meters long, and possess more armor, firepower, and shielding than many pre Great War battleship designs. Almost any pirate or local gang would be terrified of the sight of over a mile of steel and particle cannons; clad in Kolter white, green, and yellow.
But the Bessemer, and others of her class, are not merely warships masquerading as civilian craft. They are heavy mining machines that live up to their name; a steel producing process that revolutionized the industry of Earth some seven hundred years earlier. The Bessemer and her sister ships are capable of blasting metal-rich asteroids to bits with their coaxial mining particle beam cannon, and then having swarms of automated mining drones devour any valuable deposits within before unloading the materials into the Bessemer’s ore hold for the internal rail system to run any raw ore through her six corvette sized forges, and then having the refined metal shunted to her cavernous lower hold, while any waste material from the refining process is vented directly into space.
Ships of this class are outfitted with a sizable hangar, advanced sensor suite, extensive internal cargo bays, and large cargo pod clamps that allow it to act in the capacity of miner, defensive ship, operations command center, and even freighter and personnel carrier should usual shipping to outlying mining sites be disrupted.
But capable as they are, these are not the spartan mining vessels with unlivable working conditions that some shady companies have been known to operate. These space-faring cities of steel feature robust safety systems, spacious and comfortable crew quarters, multiple restaurants, multiple mess-halls, multiple shops for clothing, food, electronics, and other items, an arcade, multiple gyms with weights, various weight and cardio machines, martial arts areas, gymnastics equipment, along with a walking track, a small bowling alley, an olympic sized swimming pool, a multi-sport stadium, a greenhouse, hydroponics bays, a small stage/concert area, several computer labs, a library, a small movie theater, crew lounges and break areas, a salon/spa, a bar/club, chapels, classroom/daycare areas, office areas, as well as repair stations, enough dry and frozen storage to keep everyone fed for extended missions, advanced workshops, astrotography, laboratories, guest bunk-rooms, and a starbase grade medical center.
Not everyone is happy about Kolter Mining’s efforts, however. While Courtland founded the Kolter Foundation to aid those in need, he also lobbied for what came to be known as the Kolter Bill to be passed. Mining employees out in the colonies loved the added protections this afforded them. But the executives of Kolter’s rival mining companies operating out of Earth’s colony worlds quickly found themselves facing laws that favored the profits of Kolter and their already developed safety systems and excellent treatment of employees. What’s more, the Federal Defense Navy Admiralty have been continually frustrated that rather than helping to line their pockets as part of the military industrial complex, Courtland has been working tirelessly to reveal their corruption and hidden support of crime in outlying areas of space.
What’s more, there are even rumors that Courtland is now working with, and possibly even helping to fund, a mercenary vigilante unit out in The Divide known as the Phoenix Command Group, founded by Jonathan Scarlett, another former Federal Defense Navy Captain who ran afoul of the Admiralty.
The wealthy and corrupt among the Admiralty, military industrial complex, crime syndicates, and corrupt businesses running shady operations out in The Divide are deeply troubled by these rumors. But those who are now citizens of no nation, and who have known nothing but hopelessness and need for years, have a slight spark of hope rising like a Phoenix.
IRL info: This digital SHIP was made in Bricklink’s Studio software from September 11th to September 30th, 2021. I did not originally plan to participate in SHIPtember, but I couldn’t resist. It is 184 studs (58.1 inches) long, 50 studs wide, and 48 studs high. It is comprised of 23,470 pieces, which I believe makes it my highest piece-count SHIP to date, and means that the model itself has a mass of 973.502 ounces, or 60.843 pounds, or 27.597 kilograms, which most likely makes it my heaviest SHIP as well as my most piece intensive. (I really need to learn to build a little more hollow.) Note that it uses all real pieces/colors that are available for sale on Bricklink. (Albeit at a price that makes attempting to build it in physical bricks highly impractical.) It is 100% connected, and should be at least somewhat stable in real life. I would want to reinforce the fore-end with more Technic, and switch out the longest Lego Technic axle holding the engine for an aftermarket stainless steel version. I cannot guarantee that various sections built out from the main SNOT and Technic frame would be totally stable without slight redesign of a few bits. It would also require a hefty display stand of some kind.
The current pictures are WIP to show the completed status of the build itself. Better renders done by importing the Studio build into Mecabricks, replacing any pieces that fail to load or change position, and then exporting to Blender for higher quality rendering, and finally hopefully doing some cool backgrounds with GIMP, will hopefully follow before whatever October picture deadline is decided on. Please do not use these early pictures in the poster if time remains, as I hope to provide better ones. Thank you for reading this lengthy description. Have a cookie.
If this ship had a theme song, this magnificent piece by Clamavi De Profundis would be it: youtu.be/Xm96Cqu4Ils

The Olympic Stadium (Khmer: ពហុកីឡាដ្ឋានជាតិអូឡាំពិក) is a multi-purpose stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It has a capacity of 50,000. Despite its name, the stadium has never hosted an Olympic Games.
Construction on the National Sports Complex started in 1963 and was completed in 1964. Designer Vann Molyvann made use of massive earthworks to create the stadium, digging up 500,000 cubic meters of earth to shape the grounds.
The stadium might have been built to host the 1963 Southeast Asian Peninsular Games, but the games were cancelled due to political problems in Cambodia. There was the short-lived GANEFO games, that were held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in November 25~December 6, 1966 and were named 'First Asian GANEFO'. The stadium has played host to appearances by visiting dignitaries and state occasions, and has been the home of Cambodia's national athletics teams.
The stadium played a small and integral part in the 1966 FIFA World Cup, when North Korea faced Australia in qualification as the remaining two Asia/Oceania zone teams.
As North Korea lacked diplomatic relations with most countries and did not have a FIFA-standard venue at the time, and the Australian immigration laws in force meant the North Korean team would be unlikely to receive visas to enter the country, finding a suitable venue for the match proved difficult until Chief of State Norodom Sihanouk, an ally of Kim Il Sung, informed FIFA the matches could be held in Phnom Penh.
The matches attracted 60,000 and 55,000 fans, with Sihanouk decreeing half would cheer for Australia, while the other half would cheer for the North Koreans. The matches were held on 21 November 1965 and on 24 November 1965, with North Korea winning both (6–1 and 3–1): as all fifteen African teams had withdrawn in protest after FIFA declined to allocate them a direct place in the final tournament, the Final Round was scratched and North Korea also qualified for the World Cup, where they reached the quarter-finals.
Among the facilities are Olympic size swimming pools for swimming and diving and an indoor volleyball court with a capacity of up to 8,000, now known as the Olympic Stadium Indoor Arena. The diving boards and swimming pools were restored in 2017 after years of disuse, and are now enjoyed daily by the general public.
During the Khmer Rouge era, the stadium was used as an execution site where hundreds of the Khmer Republic’s officials, formerly led by Lon Nol, were killed.
In the decades following the Khmer Rouge era, the stadium facilities fell into disrepair. In 2000, the stadium complex was redeveloped by a Taiwanese firm, the Yuanta Group, which refurbished the stadium and also redeveloped parcels of the complex into condominiums and commercial properties.
The stadium has come to be a popular attraction for Phnom Penh residents, who attend daily exercise sessions, as well as football games and other activities.
In May 2007, the Irish singer Ronan Keating performed in concert in the stadium's Indoor Arena, the first concert by a major international act in Cambodia.
In November–December 2007, the World Organization Volleyball for Disabled held its World Cup in the stadium's Indoor Arena, the first major international sporting event in Cambodia in more than 40 years. Cambodia, seeded fourth in the world, finished third.
In 2010, the stadium hosted all the football matches for the Cambodian Premier League, known for sponsorship purposes as the Metfone C-League.
In 2015, the stadium's grass pitch was replaced with artificial turf.
The 2023 Southeast Asian Games will not be held at the Olympic Stadium, but at Morodok Techo National Stadium. Although not host as a main venue, but it hosted the Men's football tournament and Women's football finals.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in Cambodia, the stadium was used as a temporary testing facility and later used as an overflow hospital.
In 2023, the stadium's capacity was decreased to 30,000 via installation of additional 25,000 individual seats to ensure compliance with the FIFA's and AFC's regulations.

Vann Molyvann (Khmer: វណ្ណ ម៉ូលីវណ្ណ; 23 November 1926 – 28 September 2017) was a Cambodian architect and urban planner. Molyvann is best known as pioneering the style known as New Khmer Architecture, which combined modernism and Khmer tradition, and accounted for the country's unique environment and irrigation needs.
During Cambodia's post-independence period between 1957 and 1970, Molyvann was appointed by Norodom Sihanouk to reshape and modernise Cambodia through the construction of new towns, infrastructure and architecture. He is credited with modernising the nation's capital Phnom Penh and designing several iconic landmarks, including the Independence Monument, Chaktomuk Conference Hall and Olympic Stadium. During the Cambodian Civil War and Pol Pot regime, he lived in exile in Switzerland, returning to Cambodia in 1991. He was appointed head of APSARA, in charge of conserving the temples of Angkor, until his dismissal in 2001 following disputes with the government. In contemporary Cambodia, many of his buildings and city plans fell into neglect or were demolished by unplanned development. He died in 2017 at age 90.
DublinBus (Phibsboro) VT51
Moving back to Dublin for the final photo of this upload, and Phibsboro based VT51 is noted here on Parnell Square operating Service 38 to Blanchardstown/Damastown.
The VTs are primarily on the 46A/145 (Donnybrook), the 25A/B/66/X/67/X (Broadstone) and 39/A (Phibsboro) but more often than not one or two will slip onto the 38/A in peak times. Since Phibsboro received VT48-51 from Broadstone back in January, this has become a more regular occurrence, and is justified too given how busy the 38/A can get.

See how these 6 simple ways can change your life.
Although some religions have introduced us as sinners and guilty, it doesn't and hasn't changed
our reality. We are love covered by the conditioned mind which has taken command of our whole existence. Nevertheless it has never and will never be able to change our being.
Inside all and every single one of us there is a reality untouched by any mind and thanks to yoga and meditation, it is starting to reveal itself in a way it never had. Below are the six secrets we have found will lead to Living Your Truth and also Loving Your Life in the quickest amount of time.
Key 1: Know Your Truth
Exactly how can we listen to the body's knowledge if we're constantly hurrying, reflecting concerning the past, projecting into the future, as well as mishandling time? Our authentic self realities existing in silence. In order to disclose that self, we should find stillness and also silence for a dedicated time frame every day. During this moment, show on exactly how you were educated "fact." Were you encouraged to reject your personal fact? As an example, did you want to be an artist, instead were informed to obtain a degree in company due to the fact that the job market is a lot better? Were you interested in learning a particular sport, instead a moms and dad pressed you to play a different one at which they stood out? Lots of might have been shown that talking the truth was impolite if it somehow angered one more person, so you established the "Disease to Please" in order to maintain the peace and not hurt feelings. Journal concerning exactly what your reflections expose from youth as well as attach the dots onward to problems you could have today.
Key 2: Speak Your Truth
Once you have systems in position to aid you identify your fact, the following action is to be able to properly honor as well as interact it. Ask on your own: How do I really feel? What do I require? Just what do I want? Express the solutions without have to validate or safeguard. You have to start every interaction with the hope that your demands will certainly be satisfied. Occasionally, our requirements can not be fulfilled nor do we have the need or storage capacity to fulfill another person's, so we must also learn how to with dignity, yet absolutely, say and also get "no." Along with spoken expression, revealing your authentic self through garments, embellishing your individual area, and developing something from absolutely nothing (art, creating, etc.) are all fun as well as liberating ways to mirror your credibility back to you.
Key 3: Lose Your Mafia (FEAR) Mind
Consider exactly how much of your day is worked on autopilot. This is your subconscious mind which is helpful in enabling you to keep in mind ways to reach work and tie your shoes, yet is detrimental in that it creates you to hang onto the same ol' ways of believing and the "this is the means it's consistently been so this is the method it will certainly continue to be" attitude. This is where the initial key is also vital due to the fact that all unfavorable inner voices have a beginning. Allow yourself to peel back the layers to subject when/ where/ by which the fear came from and also why you have actually transformed it right into scripture. If your auto-pilot worry mind runs your life's show, it additionally extorts pleasure from it. Understanding that many anxiety is a sensation not a fact releases you to transform your feedback. Worry belongs to the human condition and insightful, instead you do have control over exactly how much it controls you. To be genuine, you need to want to extend of your comfort zone. Have faith that you will make it through, grow, as well as learn just what it is you are indicated to know when you do exactly what you are called to do. Fear can be your largest instructor or the obstruction to where you intend to go. You determine.
Key 4: You = The Only ONE
"Comparison is the thief of delight."-- Dwight Edwards
When you cannot accept and also celebrate your originality, you adapt as well as pack on your own down, ultimately bring about those high qualities being lost. This "opposite side" of us becomes our shadow self-- the component of ourselves that we reject, dismiss, and think to be unwanted. The building of the shadow self returns to your upbringing as well as what high qualities were kept in esteem. Residing in your fact indicates allowing and embracing all aspects of YOU. Because you are the just you, now and also evermore, attempting to live another's life is just impossible. Concentrate on the high qualities that set you apart, honor your stability in all you do, and also accept your shadow self with kindness. Nobody else has your distinct presents and also abilities.
Key 5: Downloaded Blueprints
A belief is merely a thought you've had sometimes. Any type of area of your life that is not working is more than likely built on a malfunctioning plan (aka belief) designed by others. Disclosing your restricting, acquired ideas is the start of redrawing your plan to actually match the life you wish to develop. Identify you have control to flip the old downloaded and install blueprint from the past into a new, fresh version that matches your reality. (Check out the Daily Living tab on my site for assist with downloaded and install blueprints around love, cash, and health and wellness.).
Key 6: Revealing as well as Building Core Self with Balance.
When encountered with a decision, ask yourself two concerns to find your reality and live from your core self. What is my highest excellent in this moment? Exactly what is the following ideal action for me to take? When you attain this quality, you are in balance as well as can examine where you run out equilibrium. In those locations that are imbalanced, replying these concerns will certainly set you on course to creating concrete modifications to come back to center. Chump changes will certainly include up to big shifts, so ditch the all-or-nothing mentality and also begin today to know your truth and melt in joy.

Early Pastoral Runs around Longreach.
William Landsborough and Nat Buchanan wanted to establish a run called Bowen Downs in 1860 along the Thomson where Longreach now stands. But the Queensland Runs Act of 1860 made the financial backing of others necessary as all leasehold runs had to be stocked to an estimated quarter of the running capacity from the start of the lease and the lease rate was set at 10 shillings a square mile. So Bowen Downs required a lease of £750 and 37,500 sheep (or 7,500 cattle) which would have been worth a huge sum of money. The Scottish Australia Company provided most of the financial backing for Buchanan and Landsborough but by 1870 the Company was the sole owner of Bowen Downs. The first stock was driven down from Port Denison (now the coastal port of Bowen) as it was the closest (520 kms) coastal town. Bowen Downs was added to with additional runs and soon comprised 26 runs along the Thomson River. The Company also took up Corinda, Aramac, and Rodney Downs runs. By 1866 Bowen Downs had a population of 60 people, including 3 women. It was then a well established run and the major one in the Thomson River district.
In the late 1860s one of the workers on Bowen Downs was called Harry Redford. He was also a courier for William Forrester of Forrester Station. Redford, who became known as Captain Starlight, conceived the idea of doffing or stealing cattle from Bowen Downs with the intention of droving them down the Thomson, Barcoo and Cooper’s Creek to Adelaide. Redford, assisted by John McKenzie, James McPherson, G Doudney and J Brooks put the plan into action in 1870 after good summer rains. One thousand head of cattle was stolen including a conspicuous white stud bull which proved to be the nemesis of Captain Starlight. The white bull had been bought from the Archer Brothers, the founders of the city of Rockhampton. It was this bull that was first noticed as missing. As Redford and his friends drove the cattle south west they sold the white bull to Hill Hill Station. After three months their supplies were running out so the group sold all the cattle to Blanchwater Station, who immediately sold them on again. Bowen Downs sent three men to track the cattle duffers. Redford was arrested in 1871 but escaped and was then re-captured in NSW in 1872. He was tried for his crime in Roma in 1873 but amazingly the jury returned a “not guilty” verdict! The Queensland Government then closed the Court in Roma for two years for returning such an outrageous verdict. Redford was later arrested in 1877 and convicted of horse stealing in Toowoomba.
Partly because of the Captain Starlight episode Bowen Downs was divided into two stations- Mt Cornish and Bowen Downs, each with a manager to watch for such things. The head station by the 1880s ran for 120 miles along the Thomson River and carried 72,000 cattle. By this time, many of the runs in the Longreach district had been bought out by companies and run by them such as the Scottish Australia Company for Bowen Downs, the Landsborough Pastoral Company, Dalgety & Co, the Melbourne Trust Company, the London Chartered Bank Trust etc. During this period many for the runs were amalgamated into even bigger runs, and there was a shift away from cattle to sheep production. After the 1884 Dutton Land Act was passed, up to one quarter of the runs were resumed by the Government for selector runs and properties from 1,000 acres up to 20,000 acres were sold by the government. The increasing number of runs and population boosted the development of towns like Longreach. The stations needed towns as they relied on couriers and transport deliveries to move goods into the stations and cattle and sheep out of the stations. Settlements grew up around water holes where teamsters could water their horses or bullocks and themselves! The wayside pubs became social centres and eventually small towns.
Although the big runs dominated the district some of the selectors tried to grow wheat or lucerne on their small properties. In the whole district there were only about 350 selectors and their impact was not too significant. The big runs were huge and one station employed 270 shearers one year to shear 228,000 sheep. The 1891 and 1894 Shearers’ Strikes affected the local pastoralists who were in turn being affected by the collapse of funding banks. Police escorts were used by the pastoralists, and some violence ensued. It was out of this major clash of unionised workers and large company run stations that the Australia Labor Party was formed. It was the first labour political party in the world and it stemmed directly from the 1891 strike which was centered on Barcaldine. A shearer Tommy Ryan was elected to the Queensland Parliament after this and a new labour party was formed around this achievement. In 1894 the strike centre was near Winton and shearers burn down shearing sheds and armed themselves with rifles. One unionist was killed and around 40 shots were fired. In the end the shearers accepted a pay cut. Banjo Paterson later that year wrote a song about these strikes whilst visiting Dagworth Station. The first public performance of Waltzing Matilda took place in Winton in April 1895, but the headquarters of the Shearers’ Union was in Longreach.
Droughts and devastation were common on the runs. When the summer rains did not come, the Thomson dried up or became a series of water holes. In bad years the stations suffered huge losses of stock. After the droughts of the early 1890s and again between 1900 and 1902 many stations decided to afford the cost of sinking bores to tap into the Great Artesian Basin.
A Brief History of Longreach Township.
Longreach was a planned government town which was to be the terminus for the central west railway. After the rise of the north Queensland separatist movement in the 1880s when the north wanted to secede and form a new state, the Queensland government decided to invest more money in the northern areas. The railway was gradually pushed out from Rockhampton to Emerald in 1879, to Barcaldine in 1886, and to Longreach in February 1892. The government surveyed land and gazetted the town of Longreach in 1887 with the immediate sale of town blocks. The town had a grid pattern with the main streets named after land birds, and the cross streets named after water birds. The main street is Eagle Street.
The first building erected in the new town was a hotel for Joe Willett on the corner of Pelican and Eagle Streets. There was talk of Longreach being the “Chicago of the West.” In some respects the rapid growth of the town was remarkable. The early buyers of land were residents of Barcaldine, a few Chinese traders, the churches, and the banks. Buildings went up with great speed. By 1892 the town was the headquarters for the Shearers Union; it had several hotels, 10 general stores, a brewery, 2 bakers, 3 butchers, and 4 blacksmiths. The population jumped from 150 in 1890 to 2,000 by 1896. By 1897 the town had a post office (1893), hospital, football club, a state school, Catholic (1893), Methodist (1893) and Anglican (1895) churches, a court house (1894), 2 doctors, and 10 hotels. But the buildings were all clap board and fires were common. The first major fire in 1898 destroyed several adjoining buildings in Eagle Street. More fires followed in later years. The additional area of West Longreach across the Thomson River was gazetted in 1892, and this area included the boiling down works to dispose of old livestock. The market for tallow for candles and soap was strong in the late 19th century. The wool scouring factory was opened in 1895 and employed 200 men by 1897. It finally closed in the 1920s.
After 1900 conditions in Longreach began to improve as the worst of the droughts and pioneering years were behind the citizens. Reticulated water from the Artesian Basin improved the town, reduced the incidence of typhoid and other water born diseases and provided a sense of security for the town. Milk, however was a continuing source of difficulty. When droughts came the local dairy herds which provided milk for the town died hence goats were used by most residents to provide milk. But because of the goats no one could grow trees or lawns as the goats roamed the town streets and ate everything. It was not until the mid 1950s when the town got a sewerage system that conditions improved. Milk supplies were more regular by then, goats were dispensed with, and residents began planting trees and lawns to keep the dust down.
Earlier improvements to the town included a Roman Catholic school and convent in 1902. It was established by nuns from Wagga. The telephone exchange opened in 1904 improving communications, and the first airplane landed at Longreach in 1919! Eagle Street was bituminized in 1917, but not the other town streets, and the Power House was erected and the town electrified in 1921. Prior to this hotels and stores had their own generators. By 1933 Longreach had a population of 3,300 people. Today it has closer to 3,000 residents.
Trundling along the seafront, looking for an out-of-town parking space, was one of the recent arrivals in the growing fleet of Orion Travel, Manchester. YN06 NYM was originally a Terravision vehicle, and would have spent its life thrashing up and down between London and Stansted, so has done well to survive intact until now. Despite having had all the bodywork repaired, and a repaint into the latest livery, there isn't a great deal you can do to make one of these vehicles look attractive - the Irizar Century body just doesn't stretch all that well !

Briggs Coaches of Crymlyn Burrows near Swansea was established in 1969, and until a couple of years ago, the fleet comprised just minibuses and minicoaches with no more than 35 seats.
However, a recent change of direction has seen the purchase of full-size coaches and high capacity former MoD vehicles for school contracts in the Swansea area. Limited local bus operations have seen an Optare Solo replaced by a Transbus Mini Pointer Dart earlier this year and even the acquisition of an Optare Tempo for a fare paying service for schoolchildren.
RIG 6295 is one of the company's three 70-seat UVG and Wadham Stringer-bodied Dennis Javelins that were new to the MoD and were repatriated about 10 years ago. Vehicles are now starting to carry a white based livery with orange and blue vinyls, which has replaced the previous fuschia pink livery.
In this mid September 2017 shot, she was passing along Fabian Way in the St Thomas area of Swansea on her way to take up an afternoon school run, with a First Cymru Wright Eclipse Gemini 2-bodied Volvo B9TL heading out of the city.
