Historical country house also to be opened to the public
As of 1 September, the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam will be using the historical country house, Trompenburg, as an extra location. Trompenburg, which is close to Hilversum, was built after 1677 by Admiral Cornelis Tromp (1621-1691), the son of the legendary Admiral Maarten Harpertsz Tromp. The residence, that was built to resemble a ship, will be open for use by the Rijksmuseum from 1 April to 1 October for holding lectures, small conferences and small-scale exhibitions. In addition, Trompenburg will also be opened to the public a few times each year.
A monument for the Tromp family
Throughout the years, Trompenburg House has been a home to different families, and has been in the care of the Government Buildings Agency as a monument since 1938. Cornelis Tromp, who was the commander-in-chief of the Dutch and Danish fleet, built Trompenburg as a monument for himself and his ancestors, his father in particular. The Tromp family's glory is the theme of the dome hall - which can be seen as the maritime answer to the Oranjezaal, the central chamber in Huis ten Bosch Palace. The dome hall contains the portraits of father and son Tromp and both their wives, portraits of the ships and the naval battles.
Decoration and exhibitions
Trompenburg will not be used for large exhibitions, as the country residence is too small. However, the Rijksmuseum is considering whether the house could be decorated with art works on a limited scale. Where possible, any art work that is selected will be in keeping with the themes of life on a 17th Century country estate and the maritime history of the period of 1630 and 1690.
Due to the limited capacity of Trompenburg House, the exhibitions as well as the lectures and conferences will all be small-scale. The house will be opened to the public once a month during the April-October season (six times in total). A steward will reside at Trompenburg House.
The power station runs with coal and gas. It is one of the biggest in Germany. Currently it operates only with 80 % of its maximum capacity because more and more energy is utilized from sun and wind energy.
The Pilchowice Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant on the Bóbr River were built between 1904 and 1912.
The dam is 62 m high, 280 m long at the crest, 7.5 m wide, and 50 m wide at the base.
The dam created a reservoir on the Bóbr River with a total capacity of 50,000,000 m³.
In 2026, the reservoir was emptied and the dam underwent renovation.

Wybudowana zapora utworzyła zbiornik na rzece Bóbr o całkowitej całkowitej pojemności 50 000 000 m³.
W roku 2026 zbiornik był opróżniony a zapora objęta remontem.

Weltweit einen Namen machte sich die Ever Given als sie im März 2021 im Suezkanal havarierte. Das Schiff hatte sich quergestellt und musste daraus wieder befreit werden. Durch die Blockierung stauten sich mehr als 370 Schiffe an den Kanalenden was auch Auswirkungen auf die Weltwirtschaft hatte. Das Schiff gehört mit über 20.000 TEU Kapazität zu den größten Containerschiffen der Welt. Die letzten Tage besuchte das Schiff Hamburg. Am Burchardkai konnte ich das Schiff zwischen der HMM Copenhagen und der Taurus fotografieren.
World-famous
The Ever Given made a name for itself worldwide when it wrecked in the Suez Canal in March 2021. The ship had turned sideways and had to be freed from it. The blockage caused more than 370 ships to pile up at the ends of the canal, which also had an impact on the global economy. With a capacity of over 20,000 TEU, the ship is one of the largest container ships in the world. The ship visited Hamburg in the last few days. At Burchardkai I was able to photograph the ship between the HMM Copenhagen and the Taurus.

“Sally Lightfoot crabs are brightly-coloured coastal scavengers, found in the Galapagos Islands and across the western coast of South and Central America. They have an extremely generalist diet, feeding on anything from sea lion placenta to other crabs. This makes them an important part of the ecosystem, as they provide services such as keeping the shore clean of any organic debris and eating ticks off marine iguanas. They are rumoured to have been named after a Caribbean dancer, due to their agility in jumping from rock to rock, their ability to run in four directions and their capacity to climb up vertical slopes. This extreme agility makes them very difficult to catch. Adult crabs show characteristic intense blue and red colouring on their shells, with a white or pale blue underbelly. Younger crabs have darker colouration with red spots, providing a higher degree of camouflage. Every time the crabs moult their shell, the spots become gradually larger, until they obtain the adult colouring.
Female Sally Lightfoot crabs carry their eggs around with them on their stomachs until they hatch into the water. The larvae then swim out to deeper waters, where they consume phytoplankton and undergo a rapid series of moults. Eventually they undergo metamorphosis to become juvenile crabs and swim to shore, where they start to scavenge, becoming bigger and more colourful with each moult. These juveniles tend to travel in large groups until they reach maturity, after which they become largely solitary when not mating. When they are not mating or feeding, the crabs spend their time hiding in cracks in rocks. If they are disturbed, they may spray water or shed one of their legs as a defence mechanism.”
Der kurzfristige Einsatz der Baureihe 218 vor Doppelstockwagen über Allerheiligen 2024 zog zahlreiche Eisenbahnfreunde von Nah und Fern an die Strecke zwischen Mühldorf und Freilassing. Die Südostbayernbahn hat hier flexibel auf einen erhöhten Fahrgaststrom aufgrund der Streckensperre zwischen Rosenheim und Freilassing reagiert und mehr Sitzplatzkapazität auf der Ausweichroute angeboten. Am 01. November 2024 hatten sich bei Gausburg neben mir noch etliche weitere Fotografen eingefunden, um die 218 498 vor der RB 27985 zu dokumentieren.
The short-term use of the class 218 in front of double-decker coaches over All Saints' Day 2024 attracted numerous railway enthusiasts from near and far to the line between Mühldorf and Freilassing. Südostbayernbahn reacted flexibly to the increased passenger flow due to the line closure between Rosenheim and Freilassing and offered more seating capacity on the alternative route. On 1 November 2024, several other photographers had gathered at Gausburg alongside me to document 218 498 in front of RB 27985.
Per 10 december 2017 is R-net lijn 300 van Haarlem naar Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA voorzien van nieuw materieel. De lijn wordt nu gereden met Mercedes-Benz CapaCity-bussen met een lengte van 21 meter.

As per 10 December 2017 new Mercedes-Benz CapaCity buses with a length of 21 metres work R-net route 300 from Haarlem to Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA.

The generic name, Sciurus, is derived from two Greek words, skia 'shadow' and oura 'tail'. This name alludes to the squirrel sitting in the shadow of its tail. The specific epithet, carolinensis, refers to the Carolinas, where the species was first recorded and where the animal is still extremely common. In the United Kingdom and Canada, it is simply referred to as the "grey squirrel". In the US, "eastern" is used to differentiate the species from the western gray squirrel (Sciurus griseus).
The eastern gray squirrel has predominantly gray fur, but it can have a brownish color. It has a usual white underside as compared to the typical brownish-orange underside of the fox squirrel. It has a large bushy tail. Particularly in urban situations where the risk of predation is reduced, both white – and black-colored individuals are quite often found. The melanistic form, which is almost entirely black, is predominant in certain populations and in certain geographic areas, such as in large parts of southeastern Canada. Melanistic squirrels appear to exhibit a higher cold tolerance than the common gray morph; when exposed to −10 °C, black squirrels showed an 18% reduction in heat loss, a 20% reduction in basal metabolic rate, and an 11% increase to non-shivering thermogenesis capacity when compared to the common gray morph. The black coloration is caused by an incomplete dominant mutation of MC1R, where E+/E+ is a wild type squirrel, E+/EB is brown-black, and EB/EB is black.
The head and body length is from 23 to 30 cm (9.1 to 11.8 in), the tail from 19 to 25 cm (7.5 to 9.8 in), and the adult weight varies between 400 and 600 g (14 and 21 oz). They do not display sexual dimorphism, meaning there is no gender difference in size or coloration.
The tracks of an eastern gray squirrel are difficult to distinguish from the related fox squirrel and Abert's squirrel, though the latter's range is almost entirely different from the gray's. Like all squirrels, the eastern gray shows four toes on the front feet and five on the hind feet. The hind foot-pad is often not visible in the track. When bounding or moving at speed, the front foot tracks will be behind the hind foot tracks. The bounding stride can be two to three feet long.

Ponte Rio-Niteroi bridge
The President Costa e Silva Bridge, commonly known as the Rio–Niterói Bridge, is a box girder bridge crossing Guanabara Bay, in the State of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. It connects the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Niterói. It is currently the second longest bridge in Latin America, after the Metro Line 1 bridge, and the 48th longest in the world in 2020. From its completion in 1974 until 1985 it was the world's second-longest bridge, second only to the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway.
MAERSK CHAMPION (IMO: 8401951) is a Tug/Supply Vessel that was built in 1986 sailing under the flag of Denmark.

Our annual Harvest Fest for the backyard visitors was a huge success with all.
With four pumpkins, two of them carved, gourds, Indian corn, almonds, pecans, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, corn, brazil nuts, hazel nuts and sunflower seed setting the stage, everyone felt like a star whenever a treat or two was discovered.
In case of this chipmunk there's no telling how many treats are packed into those cheeks.

Approximately 1.25 million bricks, 0.5 million tons of rock hardcore, 70,000 tons of cement and 200,000 tons of sand, were used in the construction of the Dam.
18,500 tons of masonry had to be transported to the site. About 370 men were employed in building the dam.
Italian workers and local employ, were brought in to construct the Dam, as most british workers were not available, as they were rebuildIng London post WW2.
The Dam was built in 6 years and opened by Queen Elizabeth II, in 1952.
Of the 4 Dams in the Elan valley, the Claerwen Dam is the biggest at nearly twice the height of the other 3 Dams, and was given a victorian look to look the same as the other older Dams.
