The Pakistan Strategy Support Program (PSSP) held the conference, “Increasing Productivity and Unleashing Growth” at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad on May 26-27th, 2012. This conference also marked the final round of the Competitive Grants Program that was launched by PSSP in January 2012 for Pakistani PhD and graduate students studying locally and abroad on economic development issues of Pakistan. The finalists presented in front of the Research Advisory Committee, donor heads, professors and students from local universities. The event also consisted of plenary sessions on Pakistan’s various economic growth issues by renowned academics from all over the world, such as Dr. Jock Anderson, Dr. Regina Birner and Dr. David Spielman.

Another shot that I didn't have ample time to post-process. It was after a busy day that I got home and realised had some extra time on my hands. Wanted to go for a jog, but having seen all the sunsets lately in Singapore, I've decided to head down to the nearest place I love heading to: Lower Peirce. I brought a friend Rayden who requested me as a shooting buddy and we got this same view together.
Wanted smoothed water effects by stacking two ND 0.9s together to achieve 6 stops but I was surprised to find the water choppy accompanied with strong winds, thereby causing the wooden platform to sway in all directions - so because of this, long exposure isn't applicable any more.
Realised the sky was getting intense, shot it with a 1/10 shutter instead. Still better than nothing at all.

Family Pitheciidae - sakis
This species is a bit of an enigma. They seem quite shy in good forest, but this group was in the neighbor's backyard. In forest the main vocalization is a cough-like alarm. This group was making a lot of contact calls, more like a band of bold Cebus. There were maybe 4-5 animals. All I saw well were dingy brown, presumably females or young males.
The fruit is abiú (Pouteria caimito, Sapotaceae). These fruits were ripe (or almost ripe- they would be pure yellow when ripe) and juicy, which is also a bit of a difference from good forest, where sakis mostly eat unripe fruits. Presumably that capacity to eat unripe fruits gives them an edge over howlers, spiders, and Cebus (and puts them into competition with parrots). Thanks to Mario Cohn-Haft for the fruit id.

British High Commission organized the Capacity Building workshop in North Eastern states of India at Sanskriti, SVD House in Guwahati, 31 October and 2 November 2015. The workshop was funded from the Bilateral Programme budget, which included 50 participants from all over North-East. This sign seems to be in excellent shape, and if you view the photo on original you can even read the tiny print at the bottom.

A capacity crowd filled the Portland Convention Center on Monday morning for the Skanner News Group 28th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast. (Read full story here: bit.ly/L3smWm )
As usual the event attracted a wide variety of attendees, from local churchgoers, educators and teenagers to Mayor Charlie Hales, and both of Oregon’s U.S. Senators, Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley.
Dr. Bruce Goldberg, interim director of Cover Oregon, gave the keynote speech.(Check it out here: bit.ly/Lgw8MG)
Winner of the Skanner News’ Drum Major for Justice Award, an honor bestowed on a local resident who has dedicated their life to Civil Rights, went to Joyce Braden Harris, Equity Assistance Center director for Education Northwest.
Event emcee, Bobbie Dore Foster, executive editor of The Skanner News Group, presided over the presentation of dozens of college scholarships for local students attending schools around the country.
A celebrated poet, Pastor Emmett Wheatfall of Remember the Hope Christian Fellowship Church, gave the invocation as well as the benediction; singer Jeanne Wiggins led the audience in the Black national anthem, “Lift Ev’ry Voice.”
For the first time the event was broadcast live on Portland Community Media television, Channel 30.
