17 tonne capacity (steel) bottom pour (BPG) ladle in operation at Weir Minerals foundry in the UK.
In bottom pouring, the ladle pours the metal from the base of the ladle via a special refractory pouring nozzle and a stopper rod system.
This ladle is used to cast a single mould.
Due to the need to pour the mould in a very short time the ladle is fitted with two BPG assemblies that are operated simultainously.
Using two small pouring nozzles allows the metal to be poured with less turbulance than would occur if a single large pouring nozzle were to be used so the quality of the casting is better.

The US Grumman American AA-5 series is a family of all-metal, 4-seat, light aircraft used for touring and training. The line includes the original American Aviation AA-5 Traveler, the Grumman American AA-5 Traveler, AA-5A Cheetah, and AA-5B Tiger, the Gulfstream American AA-5A Cheetah, and AA-5B Tiger, the American General AG-5B Tiger, and the Tiger Aircraft AG-5B Tiger.
AA-5B Tiger
The final variant of the AA-5 line is the AA-5B Tiger. The Tiger was designed by Grumman engineers and was first produced in late 1974 as the 1975 model.
The Tiger was the outcome of the same redesign work on the AA-5 Traveler that resulted in the 150 hp (110 kW) Cheetah and it was originally little more than the same aircraft with a Lycoming O-360-A4K 180 hp (130 kW) engine, resulting in a 139-knot (257 km/h) cruise speed. Gross weight was increased from the AA-5/AA-5A's 2,200 lb (1,000 kg) to 2,400 lb (1,100 kg) on the Tiger. Externally the Tiger looked much like the AA-5 Traveler and AA-5A Cheetah so once again Grumman’s marketing department came up with a distinctive decal package to differentiate the design – this time a "galloping tiger".
While the earlier AA-1s and AA-5s did not change much from year to year the AA-5B Tiger underwent almost continual improvement. As with the AA-5A, the AA-5B was continued in production by Gulfstream when they purchased Grumman's American division. Gulfstream ceased production of all piston-engined aircraft in 1979 and the highly successful Tiger design went out of production after 1323 aircraft had been delivered.

For eleven years the design was not produced and then in the late 1980s a new company was formed to produce the Tiger. American General Aviation Corporation carried out further design improvements including introducing a new split nose bowl (engine cover) that could be removed without removing the propeller, a new instrument panel and improved exterior lighting, a new fuel quantity indication system, a 28 volt electrical system replacing the older 14 volt system, a new style throttle quadrant and improvements to the heat and ventilation systems. Aerodynamic improvements raised the optimal altitude cruise speed from 139 knots (257 km/h) true airspeed to 143 knots (265 km/h) TAS. The redesigned aircraft was put into production under an amended type certificate as the American General AG-5B Tiger. The new company had considered producing AA-1s and AA-5A Cheetahs, but those plans were never fulfilled before it closed its doors in 1993. American General produced Tigers for model years 1990-93 and delivered 181 aircraft in that time.
The design has a strong following amongst pilots and aircraft owners and so in 1999 a new company was formed to put the Tiger back into production. Tiger Aircraft LLC started production of the AG-5B Tiger in 2001 at their plant in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Tiger Aircraft did not produce any other models of the AA-1 or AA-5 family, although they owned the type certificates for the complete line of aircraft. Between 2001 and 2006 Tiger Aircraft produced 51 AG-5Bs. By the middle of 2006 Tiger Aircraft was experiencing financial problems and production of AG-5Bs had been halted and production workers laid off. [1] [2] Tiger Aircraft filed for bankruptcy in January 2007.[3]
On August 2, 2007 The Federal Bankruptcy Court approved the sale of Tiger Aircraft assets to True Flight Holdings LLC. True Flight has indicated its intention to produce parts and also return the AG-5B Tiger to production as soon as possible at a planned 60,000-square-foot (5,600 m2) facility on a 13 acre lot at the Valdosta, Georgia Airport.[4][5][6]
If True Flight Holdings does put the Tiger into production, they will be the fifth manufacturer to do so.

CHITRAL: Three days training workshop on Capacity building of Water
and Sanitation committees was concluded today in a local hotel. The
training workshop was conducted by Aga Khan Planning and Building
Services (APBS) and Water and Sanitation Extension Program (WASEP)
Chitral. District coordination Officer Chitral Rahmatullah Wazir was
chief guest on the occasion who along with other guests distributed
certificates among the successful stakeholders (participants) on
completion of 3 days training. Addressing on the occasion DCO Chitral
highly hailed contribution of civil society especially of Aga Khan
Development Network in uplifting and promoting of Chitral. He said
that although this is responsibility of state to provide all basic
amenities to its citizens but being a big district of Khyber
Pahtonkhwa and having less population than its land it is not possible
for government to overcome all problems. And that is why the district
administration always appreciates contribution of civil society in
development of Chitral. He stressed upon the participants to be
benefited from such fruitful workshops and to communicate these good
messages to their communities.
Speakers on the occasion said that only 24% people of Chitral using
potable drinking water but the remaining population is still deprived
because of lack of awareness and spirit of voluntarism for free work
as labor in launching these water supply schemes. Main objective of
this 3 days training workshop to enhance mutual harmony and to
interact line departments and civil societies with each other for
sustainable development of Chitral and to success these benefited
programs of hygienically clean drinking water in Chitral. As well as
to motivate the local community to be avoid from wastage of clean
water and also to avoid from using contaminated water for drinking
purposes Nizar Ali Shah senior social organizer of AKPBS briefed the
participants as resource person regarding social organization. Senior
engineer Mohsin Ali Khan highlighted different aspects of the project
on engineering point of view. As well as he briefed the participants
about the criteria, procedure and technical characteristics of water
schemes by WASEP. Javed Ahmad health and Hygiene Officer talked about
health and hygiene and stressed upon the stake holders on using only
potable and hygienically clean water for drinking purposes because 70%
disease are creating from contaminated water. Mushtaq Ahmad delivered
lecture on water quality monitoring system. Area Manager of AKPBS
Muhammad Karam thanked all participants and officers of district
administration as well as station Director of Radio Pakistan Chitral
for their participation and keen interest in this beneficial workshop.
He said that either we work in public sector or civil society but our
beneficiaries are the same and that are public. A large number of
women folk also attended the workshop. He also specially thanked to
Ali Qurban deputy Training Coordinator from Gilgit, Noor Alim Training
officer and other experts who cordially participated in this training
workshop.

President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, who made his first foreign visit in this position specifically to Ukraine.
“We are grateful to NATO for its support of Ukraine from the very beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. Thank you very much for your first mission and decision to be in Ukraine. Thank you very much. This is a very strong signal for us from NATO and professionals,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The main topics of the meeting were preparations for the next meeting in the Ramstein format and our state's defense needs. The President noted that one of Ukraine's top priorities was the implementation of the agreements reached at the NATO Summit in Washington on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense. The Russian dictator does not want the war to end, and only Ukraine's strong position and pressure on Russia can force the aggressor state to establish a just and lasting peace.
Special attention was paid to the operational launch of the NSATU mission “Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine.” According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine is counting on concrete results of its work, in particular, on strengthening coordination in military assistance.
The Chair of the NATO Military Committee assured that the North Atlantic Alliance is ready to fulfill all its commitments, as it considers Ukraine an integral part of the transatlantic defense architecture.
“The message I would like to convey not only to you, but to everyone, is that NATO is on your side. We are determined to fulfill all our commitments and to defend all the values and principles that we share,” he added.
In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Giuseppe Cavo Dragone discussed the continued military assistance from NATO member states and direct investment in the domestic production of long-range drones based on the Danish model. At one of the defense industry enterprises, they got acquainted with the production capacities and characteristics of Ukrainian long-range weapons and spoke with the people working there.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the employees for their service to the state and for their work, which every day brings tangible results and strengthens our army with domestically produced weapons; he also presented them with state awards.
“Thank you for your work. It's very gratifying to see that we have something to show, and it's not theoretical – it’s your tangible result. A real result that helps us and is feared by the Russians, the enemies of our state. It’s a great pleasure to be here with our NATO colleagues. It's truly rewarding when they see the high level of achievement Ukraine has reached during this war. The level of domestic production during wartime is exceptionally high,” the President said.

African Risk Capacity elects first African GM, as it pays out US $25 million in drought insurance claims.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 24 January 2015: “The implementation of the Africa’s Disaster Risk Reduction adopted in 2004, has led not only to a paradigm shift from crises management to risk management, but also increased awareness, political commitment and strengthened institutional, legislative, and policy frameworks, capacities, tools and mechanisms for Disaster Risk Management, including early warning and disaster preparedness for response.”
African Union Commission Chairperson, H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma said during the official opening of the third African Risk Capacity (ARC) Conference of the Parties on Saturday, 24 January 2015, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Dr. Dlamini Zuma recognized the rage of natural and human-induced hazards and associated risks and disasters, with droughts and floods being the major ones severely impacting the Continent. She said, “The 2010-2011 drought condition which affected over 13 million people in the Horn of Africa and 16 million in the Sahel is a clear indication of how severe and devastating drought could be.”
The African Risk Capacity Agency (ARC), an AU Specialized Agency established in November 2012, will through the ARC Insurance Company Limited (ARC Ltd), payout US $25 million in drought insurance claims to three countries, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal. These countries of the Sahel region, which paid a combined premium of US $8 million, will use the payout to mobilize early interventions in response to drought based on pre-approved contingency plans.
“The payouts of US$ 25 million this year were released even before an appeal for aid to the Sahel was even formulated.” The World Food Programme Africa Director, Mr. Thomas Yanga, said during the opening ceremony. He also lauded the ARC Agency as a flagship project of the African Union and the United Nations.
The 3rd ARC Conference of the Parties also elected Mr. Mohamed Beavogui of Guinea as first African General Manager of the Africa Risk Capacity Agency. He will serve a four-year term of office beginning September 2015. He takes over from interim General Manager, Dr Richard Wilcox, credited to quickly establish the ARC, by transforming an idea into an institution.
In her remarks, the AU Commission Chairperson equally congratulated the Governing Board, the Interim Director General and the ARC staff, for building an effective, solid and responsive institution in such a short time.
Establishment in November 2012 through by the World Food Programme and African Union Commission, ARC currently has 25 member countries.
