Paris inspired fashionista cake

This one I think, is very Girly!!!

8" cake, buttercream.

This cake was for a sweet sixteen birthday party . The four white butterflies represent my niece and her 3 friends who concelebrated their birthdays in one big party at a private club. The yellow and orange colors of the cake match the printed party invitations they chose. As a memento of her special day, I mounted an invitation in a shadow box (look left of cake) and gave it to my niece. The tiers are a combination of chocolate and white sour cream cakes...all filled with orange buttercream.

First time making carrot cake. It was delish! I don't normally compliment myself but wow, just makes me motivated to bake more! Just need the funds though >_<

Served with cream cheese topping and walnut halves.

Cake liners filled with chopped hazelnuts. By the way, this came out to be an AWFUL IDEA: as soon as the snow began to melt, the liners started loosing color, so the nuts began all red. Luckly they were almost completely done!

Chocolate Mousse Cake with White Frosting

This cake was for my inlaws, they were visiting for the Fourth.

I can't take credit for the piping though I did make and pour the ganache which looks good if I say so myself. I'm pretty sure my friend Ashley made the chocolate ruffles. The piping was done by Chef.

Cake covered in fondant with fondant decorations. Everything on cake is edible.

Jerzey's smash cake for her first birthday. 6" single layer.

Once 'glue' has set on the prow & stern layers the whole ship can then be liberally iced

January 2008 -- little buttercream cake for our dear neighbor lady. The flowers are gumpaste

Wooo just made this; it's 11:20pm so the picture isn't exactly natural light or anything.

Looks good, smells good, we'll find out if it tastes good tomorrow morning. It doesn't have much sugar, so it should be interesting.

Note 1: This is my first layer cake ever!

Note 2: I used frozen ginger to make this. It ends up being pretty soggy when you mince it, but it's cheaper than buying ginger and letting it go bad.

Note 3: I've lived in this house for 1.5 years now and have yet to use a boxed cake mix. I swear this is just as easy.

Recipe (I topped w/ candied ginger and toasted coconut, as suggested)

Update: Tasty! I found it to be a little too dense for my preference, so texture wise it's off for me, but I think the taste is good. All my officemates seem to like it. Lots of compliments, including these via email--

"Your cake is DELICIOUS!!!"

"That cake is amazing."

"The carrot cake is delicious. You are the bomb cook!"

Mom's famous Easter Bunny cake

This cake turned out great especially with two new techniques we were using. This is the first time we did quilting on the fondant and we did something new for the flowers. Both were very successful.

Fleur de Orange cake pops with dark chocolate coating / Chocolate cake pops with white chocolate coating

My 19 year-old daughter and her friend worked on this cake together. The henna design was inspired by flickr member, "IcingDreams by Maryam".

This is one of three cakes I did for Sat. It's my first time doing a tiered cake. Had a lot of fun doing the Hawaiin theme for a 2 yr old girl. It has flip flops, flower garland, chocolate shells, Plumeria flowers and the bottom tier is dressed like a hula skirt ( skirt inspired by pink cake box)

Chocolate cake with matching chocolate cupcakes. All figures are made from sugarpaste.
