A Northbound CSX freight train makes a brief stop at Junta Yard in Cartersville, GA on the CSX W&A Subdivision. The power set is the usual standard stuff we tend to see ALOT down here (ES44AH, ES40DC), but this train had a special treat, by adding a Metra F40PHM-2 EMD Commuter Rail engine to the mix!

Heading home after an evening of train watching at New Castle Yard we heard this Westbound coming through Wampum. Might as well grab one more photo before the sun sets for the day! The shadows are really long as Q375 swings off the ex P&LE and up the ramp at CP43 in West Pittsburg, PA on 9/19/1994.
Swinging around the wye to park the train at CSX Wyvern Yard, G154-28 splits the signals at W&A Wye on a bitterly cold January afternoon.

I originally had another shot in mind here, but B731 was held by track crews in East Taunton. The sun dipped below the tree line and shadows elongated across the tracks for the most part by the time they came.
In the golden light, B731 passes the camera with CSX 6210 in the lead, and the two newbies to the area: ex-New Haven FL9Ms 2026 and 2011. The two units were purchased by Mass Coastal/Cape Cod Central and will be used on passenger trains on the Cape. It's great to have two units that originally traversed the area back in the New Haven era.
The train enters the Alden Yard Limits and passes the siding here at milepost 20. In the siding is SLRG 511, an IPH-owned dome car. After spending about a year on the Cape, 511 is set to go home.
A CSX intermodal sits underneath 164 waiting to go into PIT. Had #885 at the lead with a new DPU sticker. First time catching a CSX train on the Portsmouth, pretty cool.
A trio of CSX GE engines (2 ES44AH, AC4400CW that's not pictured) pull the Southbound Tropicana/Intermodal train over the old Western & Atlantic tracks at Cartersville, GA shortly after sunrise on 3-25-2017
That sign should say "Absolutely Iron Horse!"
Continuing with the standard cab theme of June 17 2020 ,here is CSX train V089 with an SD40-2 / SD50 pair westbound approaching Lodi, Oh. Thanks to the Sham's ears, we knew this guy was headed west when we left Mansfield and were able to intercept before setting up for the W&LE 735. I did see a wide cab off in the distance that day when the Ashland job was getting close to Willard but wsa nowhere close to shooting one.
CSX 5972 was one of two motors as the crew of CSX Y102 is on a spur off of the Eastover Sub in Columbia, South Carolina. The old GE has an unusual ancestry. Built as Conrail #5079 in 1988, it went to Norfolk Southern initially after the split as NS #4810. CSX got it in a locomotive swap. It has since been retired and was sold to the Maine Central. I am not aware of its current disposition.
CSX 425 leads an eastbound tank train through CP 367 at Blossom Road in Rochester, N.Y., on June 27, 2014. The original New York Central signals were in process of being replaced.
In the small country town of Niangua, MO a short stack train pause at the East end of the siding to wait for an approaching Westbound. I'm not sure why but as soon as I arrived this train started easing forward, then just when I thought my chance for an exposure had passed, they stopped again. I rushed to get a shot while I still had time, this was the result. Not often I get to see a CSX dash 8 just a few minutes from my house, especially not in YN2.
