This morning's walk at 7am, so fortunate to have nature so close to our doorstep. The temperature was at freezing, adding to the sparkle.
Out of nowhere this Snowy Owl suddenly appeared. It flew past a few us walking along the circuit road and then banked right to sit on the slope of a hill. Eventually it managed to grab a vole at the bottom of the slope. Toronto, Canada

Walking down from St. Mary's on the top of the cliff, one has a panorama view of Whitby's East and West Piers and the two Breakwaters. The sea can be ferocious, and I tried to feel what the fishermen might feel when getting out of the cruel sea and entering the protected calm of the harbour.

Completely out of sequence. This was taken as our bus crossed the border from Canada to the US, a milestone on the June Tour. We had just stopped at border control, a painless presentation of passports.
Something of a contrast with the re-entry after the Rhine Cruise, which happened during our flight layover in Toronto. Friendly arrangement between the US & Canada to pass security and sit in the US at the lounge and gate while waiting to board. But the security process was back to shoe bomber days. I hope thatās just an expression of caution, not a response to known threats, in these troubled days.
(Yes, the title is an intentional reference to Neil Diamondās classic song. Who says Americans donāt understand irony, or nuance?)
