With a setting sun, a parked tank train waits to head east after a westbound freight and a few commuter trains go through Winfield, Illinois. I wanted to catch the sun directly over the water tower and I did, but I liked the gentler lighting in this shot. I intended to stay at this location just long enough to catch the sunset but it was such a beautiful evening and there was so much train traffic I stayed an hour longer photographing one train after another. It was a perfect time to try out different settings on my camera as the light changed quickly. Have a great weekend everyone :-)

What's up everyone! Hope all is well with you guys out there! Summer is here, and I'm hating it already. I do not like the heat at all! Agggghhh, is it fall yet?
Typically I hold off for sometime before I post new images. Over the past year I've spent a lot of time in the desert. I've had a few opportunities within this past year to actually get some green in my life. This was the case last week as I spent 4 days on the Olympic Coast. I definitely got my green fix! It was so nice just wandering the rainforest. Lush neon and electric greens everywhere. So beautiful and peaceful. I didn't see one other photographer the whole time. It was just me, the trees(one of my favorite subjects to photograph by the way) and the mosquitos. All in all it was an awesome trip. I made a handful of images I was very happy with, and just being out shooting some different stuff was satisfying.
My latest collection of images, Utah - Canyons to the Badlands gallery Is just about completed. I will be releasing the images here within the next couple weeks. Be well everyone, continue to inspire each other, and peace and love.

Returning from a two week vacation on Vancouver Island, I was still about 45 minutes away from Kamloops but the terrain had started to feel like home. So I pulled the car over to take this shot. It may not be the traditionally "beautiful" sights of Vancouver Island but it's home. And it's beautiful to me.

Just because the rain is coming, that does not always mean you should put your camera away and take cover. As the sun was setting in the opposite part of the sky, the golden colors were sent into some approaching rain, with beautiful results. This was at the "Fishing Cone" (that's the inactive geyser in the foreground) at West Thumb Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park.
It was quite a wintery scene in the back garden this morning as this Robin put in a brief appearance. Earley, Reading, Berkshire, UK.

Let's continue this easy slow speed chase of Pan Am train NMWA-13 across District One, the once great Maine Central Railroad Portland Division mainline. Here again is the trio of MEC 510, 316, and 7545 (a GP40-2LW, GP40, and C40-8 respectively) with their 4261ft long train of 59 loads and 4 empties seen putting on a show slogging along the battered jointed rail as they approach the thru girder span over Souadabscook Stream in this telephoto view from the Fuller Road crossing at about MP 75.3 on the modern day Freight Main.

Vancouver Island is just coming out of a major wind storm.... more than 100 power outages on South Vancouver Island alone and we were without power for most of the day yesterday. It is currently snowing heavily... much nicer than a couple of days ago... and I am still hopeful for good photography in the snowy environment.... This being said... It is curious that when you feel you would have time to do all kinds of things that have been on the back of your mind for a while, is the day where you precisely can't do them... there are not much you can do without electricity.... and the moment the electrical power is back... you are too busy doing the things that were on mind when you were without … c'est la vie... These will be my last postings on Flickr for the next little while... Have fun! Wishing you all the best photos opportunities... as always...
