In a couple of days I will drive North to enjoy the Danish West Coast. Vejers Strand, Jylland, Denmark
Going through old dinorwic slate quarry and coming out near Nant Peris village,with snowdonia mountains wearing a winter (brr it was very cold up there).
A Tricolored Heron surveys the ground from atop a snag, ready to find shelter from the coming weather.
A white-faced ibis and cattle egret sort things out. One of many conflicts resolved daily at the Merced National Wildlife Refuge.

I was very surprised to see this colony of Double-crested Cormorant coming in together as if there was an early morning meeting before tackling the day. One needed a wide angle. In one of my pictures, I counted over a hundred birds. Very impressive to see.

This balloon is in the process of landing back at the Prosser airport where it took off from. The burner is to slow there decent so they land quite softly. DSC_0860-HDR
Reminiscent of many a WWII scene, B-17 Flying Fortress 'Sally B' returns to earth after her evocative display at the 2016 RNAS Yeovilton Air Day.
She's been delighting us for over 40 years now since first arriving in the UK back in 1975. Let's hope she remains that way.

Let's continue this easy slow speed chase of Pan Am train NMWA-13 across District One, the once great Maine Central Railroad Portland Division mainline. Here again is the trio of MEC 510, 316, and 7545 (a GP40-2LW, GP40, and C40-8 respectively) with their 4261ft long train of 59 loads and 4 empties seen putting on a show slogging along the battered jointed rail as they approach the thru girder span over Souadabscook Stream in this telephoto view from the Fuller Road crossing at about MP 75.3 on the modern day Freight Main.

Female Tennessee Warbler. The warblers are coming back through WNC! This was taken at the NC Arboretum in Asheville, and I saw several throughout. Unbelievably, I was able to recover this at 12,800 ISO.
to a time zone near you. Last year's Stella D'Oro day-lily in my yard. Enjoying the winter outside but dreaming ahead to spring.
