A westbound UP mixed freight is rumbling across the Mississippi River into Clinton, Iowa just as the shadows are starting to get long. The US 30 bridge completes the scene in the upper left. Clinton, IA 10/30/2021
We heard a dull thud this morning, and fearing the worst, I went onto the patio. There, lying on its back was this beautiful finch, breathing heavily and clearly very stunned. We picked him or her up, seeing a few feathers on one side of the head very scuffed from colliding with the kitchen window. One eye was closed shut, the other starting to open. About twenty minutes later and a couple of comfort stops on Wendy's hand, all seemed back to almost normal. Glad I had the D300 to hand!

The gulls were circling around a fisherman on the east bank of the Willamette, giving me a chance to practice my in flight photos. It's going to take a lot of work, partially blamed on the slowness of the lens, and partially blamed on my inexperience!
Emerging ferns shown pretty much as it was shot from the camera, the Olympus E-M1. Shot with an open F2.8 aperture; bokeh intended.
I think everyone living in a cold climate is looking forward to spring. Cute little ducklings taken in Calgary, Alberta.

Bessemer & Lake Erie No. 905 passes through Calvin Yard, leading the "AK Turn." The short train is pulling gons piled high with scrap metal for the furnaces at AK Steel's Butler Works.

I was trying to get a blind shot of Jasper but he kept advancing. I'd back up, he'd advance. And so the dance went until I put the camera down so we could play properly.
