This is the same dog otter as from my previous post. As mentioned before, he was in superb condition and was a joy to watch and spend so much time with.
Usually I shoot from the house and up the hillside across the howe .... but this was shot coming home down the hill. You can see almost the whole village strung out along the road - and the spire of the Kirk after which the village is named ;o)
A sunny morning last month - I guess it will be quite some time before I see that view again!

This is a sego lily or a mariposa lily. "Sego" is a Shoshone word, meaning "edible bulb," referring to the root organ that the Native American tribe considered a delicacy. "Mariposa" is a Spanish word for "butterfly," referring to its most colorful pollinators. About 60 species of sego lilies are native to western North America -- This is Gunnison's sego lily, Calochortus gunnisoni, named after explorer Capt. John Williams Gunnison, who was also honored by the naming of the Gunnison River and Black Canyon of the Gunnison. It thrives from mesas at the lower edge of the ponderosa pine belt to high mountain meadows.

I played a game of patience yesterday, choosing one flower among many, focusing in on it, then waiting for insects to fly up.

I hadn't bought any of these for years, and was surprised to find these are made of cardboard and came in a cardboard box. So they are no longer an enemy of the environment :)
On this one we can see a part of the Zugspitze at the back -
the highest mountain in Germany , 2.962 m -
Taken on the outskirts of Wai o tapu national park aka geothermal wonderland. The photograph shows cold air connecting with the geothermal ground to create lots of great sights!
With five of my last six uploads featuring DMUs of one sort or another, I thought I'd better remedy that with a proper train.
And what better than a noisy Colas 'Grid', unit 56302, captured here at Crewe with the 10.05am Crewe Basford Hall - Pinnox Branch Sidings (6K38).
Pretty sure the chap on the left had just come over from the TMD, anyhow I revamped the comp slightly to include him for balance.

Snowdrops in my front garden. This small plot was a scrubby area of grass and Dandelions until I transformed it into a proper garden a few years ago.
The first Daffodils are about to bloom soon and should give a succession right through into April ...
always a pleasure to see such vitality and colour in the garden to remind us that Life is good.
So, winter is coming folks, which is why I decided to start my cold flickr season right NOW!!!

The evening August air is warm, as Lonnie stands on the entrance to The Milwaukee Road shops at 3301 West Canal Street and captures the final three dead in tow Milwaukee FP45's. The final trio of cowl units will be set out in Muskego Yard, where they will be then transferred to the diesel house and stripped of any usable parts before being scrapped in the back shop.
