I finally found my Wataru! He's been lost in Japan somewhere. I'll be sending him money for airfare soon. I must buy him some clothing too because he's only traveling with the clothes on his back. It was a tender moment when he said he's missed me ^____^

Anybody know where I can buy some great clothing for him? What about glasses? He told me he can't see very well either...

No photoshop here, this tiger jumped over this log right towards the camera, thank goodness I had a zoom lens, and an Island barrier between us.

After being tinkered on at EMD's LaGrange facility, Metra F40PH 107 was coming off the Harbor at B12 for Bensenville. Metra will send out one of their little switchers to fetch it and take it back sometime later; the 107 will soon be back out leading a scoot.

God and I play together every morning:

I put out peanuts

and he comes to get them,

cleverly disguised as a magpie.

I keep having to buy more bags of

peanuts in the shell, for

who can resist God,

coming for peanuts?

I took the original photo of this magpie coming for peanuts on my balcony and hand-painted it in Corel Painter X using a Wacom Tablet and stylus. Final processing was done on my iPad using PhotoToaster.

As I am a Sony Alpha user, I would like to express my feeling for A7 Series camera that I like:

- Size and weight very light and easier to grab for my hand and more handy

- Silent shutter, BSI sensor 5 axis in-body stabilization and the possibility to use also with E-mount, A-mount and all brands.

- Visualize directly in viewfinder how the image will end up. I don’t have to verify it all the time, I am more confident in your settings, I save a lot of time, As I can see what your picture will exactly.

- Focus Peaking highlights the edges of the subject which is in focus, it's really useful for me.

- Whether I shoot macro, wildlife, concerts or whatever, it’s a very convenient means to get original angles and more creative pictures on the ground or above a crowd.

- Image Quality and Sensor Performances.

- The NFC and WiFi feature is to be able to use one’s smartphone as a smart remote and copy image. In fact, I don’t have to stand behind my camera to take the picture.

- The short distance between the sensor and the lens is one of mirrorless’ best advantages. It allows the use of whichever lens I want via an adapter. There are adapters for all existing brands.

Good news is that the exile of 60100 is almost over. The loco, currently stored at far away St Blazey, has a date with the GTi man at last and will be heading back to Toton in the not too distant future.

This picture was taken at Toton before it went south for it's Cornish holiday, next to 60100 is Mainline blue 60044 which is also at St Blazey and will be GTi'd as well.

Catching op with your streams soon.....

I can always tell when winter's coming - the guys lay down the "snow fence" in the field across the street -- it's supposed to control drifting snow...I go running to the closet for an extra blanket!

When I left Newfoundland, I had one week to spend in the Halifax area as I was meeting my daughter who was joining me for a bit. So I decided to go to Grand-Pré area in Nova Scotia. It is a place I visited some 15 years ago and wanted to see again. I looked at the map for the nearest campground and here I found this one in Grand-Pré right by Evangeline Beach. When I went to the registration desk I saw a framed picture of thousands of semipalmated sandpipers and asked if they knew where that picture was taken from. Well, needless to say that her answer made me extremely happy when she said that it was right by the campground From mid-July to mid-August is their migration from the Arctic to South America. This is their only stop in between where they feed enough to gain twice their weight to be able to fly non stop for 72 hours.

Ok that was very nice and having this kind of opportunity was awesome but how and when, etc.... So I spent my first day observing, walking the beach, trying to figure out their behaviour and where they were going most of the time. Well it took me a few days to figure it out as the challenge was not only the place but also the tide and by mid-week I had learned quite a lot.

A Peregrine Falcon and Merlins were also active and that was easy target for them. Is why they rest in rocks on the beach so to hide and yet, the predators would come and grab one or two. Unfortunately, when they do, the birds don't come back on the same beach for two days.

I had already posted a few pics when I first arrived and these pics were taken on my last day at the perfect tide and with a sunset. At low light however I took this opportunity to do some abstract. It was also the biggest flock I had seen which was estimated at around 15,000 birds.

"Coming Soon" the billboard says.... under construction is what I presume to be a block of apartment flats which will be part of the new "Marshall's Rise" complex at the top of Sping Gardens. They have already poured the concrete for the ground floors, and like all modern buildings at this stage, it looks pretty grim, like a military bunker. However, the artists impression is of a building in a "Victorian Industrial" style, which is actually appropriate for the area - especially when you recall the building which stood on the site until approximately 2000 - the old Marshall's Tea Machine Shop.
