While cleaning out my garage and store room I found a spate of old pictures I had taken in the 1970s! I am in the process of scanning them and will be posting most of them on Flickr over the next few days.
They include cars I have had, friends, girlfriends, pictures of things that no longer exist, and some "sexy" pictures of me when I was much younger and thinner and had my hair.
Most were taken with a Kodak Instamatic, which was my first camera.
Stay tuned, y'all!
Both fashion from the 40's and the title of a Foreign Exchange's song were used as inspiration for this photo shoot. Coming Home tells the story of a person who comes home only to find an empty house. Make up by Natasja Arie.
Part of my final project for my first BFA photography course at Arizona State University. My project, called Coming & Going, includes three elements. First, using the photographic version of a pentimento (in this case, double exposures). Second, paying homage to one of Thomas Struth's first exhibits, which featured photos of streets in New York City and his hometown of Dusseldorf (in my case, New York City and Des Moines). Finally, based on a project proposed by Alec Soth, combine a photograph with some basic descriptive text, and then consider whether it's better with or without the words.

Somehow I rarely seem to arrive from the East. This time, however, I did, and was sitting at the window, so you can see the nice results (despite a somewhat dirty window).
After a long trip (in winter especially) it is always exciting to be back home in Hawai'i.
Bjarne Mastenbroek and his office SeARCH designed a temporary house on the site between Het Nieuwe Instituut and Sonneveld House. Mastenbroek describes his design as a ‘Yourtopia’ and a response to social themes such as globalisation, the invasion of privacy, and the unbalance in the division of wealth. The project by Mastenbroek is the first in a series of follies that Het Nieuwe Instituut will commission in the coming years as part of its long-term programme entitled Landscape and Interior. Every two years during the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR), a Dutch architect, designer or theorist will be invited to design a model house.
WOOD. The Cyclical Nature of Materials, Sites and Ideas is the first in a series of exhibitions about materials and their economic, cultural and social significance.
Many of the qualities attributed to wood - natural, warm, pure - originate in the romantic appreciation of the forest. As such, both the latest and the rich historical narratives of wood are inextricably linked to the forest. But the forest is also a man-made landscape, a production machine subject to market laws. The rich story of WOOD is told through design objects, architectural projects and artifacts from national and international collections, and references diverse geographical, historical and cultural contexts, including German motorways, Ikea furniture, the forests around the destroyed Chernobyl nuclear power plant and Milton Friedman’s pencil.

Das ist gefährlich. Nahe der Aida gab es Einschläge.
Nur über Umwege, zum Beispiel Riad, kann man in die Heimat fliegen.
