Went out for the day at my local freight/Metrolink yard to meet up once again with "Pasadena Sub Colin" to drop off a couple graff books. He's
like a ghost. He seems to just show up out of nowhere, but this time we arranged that we would be there at the same time.
Thought about not staying and getting more flicks, because I've got a huge backlog, but damn, the weather was so great, and there were actually clouds in the sky and a little breeze. The kind of days I dream about when I'm out in the desert half-way through summer and it's 109 F., dry, dusty, not a cloud in the sky, and shade is hard to find.
Clouds in the sky in California mean one of two things, it's about to rain, or it just rained. So to have some clouds was great. If you look through my flicks, No clouds. I don't like it, but I get my flicks when/where I can.
Clouds, also double edged sword. The sun couldn't decide.... Well, actually the clouds couldn't decide if they wanted to let the sun shine through, or hide it. As a photographer this makes it challenging to photograph a moving train. It's either dark, or super bright. Oh well.
Well trains are slow?! Ignore the internet for a few minutes of your day and go to the tracks. Stand about 10 ft. from the tracks, try to capture a whole car in one photo as they roll by at 20-40 Mph. They might look slow from far away, but get up close and you can feel the wind coming off of the cars as they pass by. I use a super wide lens at this location. 7.5 mm "fisheye" lens, so I can be very close, and still get a whole autorack in the shot. I'm always amazed at all of those shots from the past shot on film cameras that look great. Me here in 2022 with a digital
camera complaining like a little girl.
Sorry, As usual, it will take me a few days or a week to come back and ID/tag all of the writers in my flicks. I'm old/tired, and I have a hard time IDing some pieces. No offense to anyone, but I do the best I can. If you can or want to correct me, COMMENT!!!!

Angels Landing and the Virgin River, photographed from the pedestrian bridge by the Grotto.
The hikers moving in my direction are returning from Angels Landing; this (the West Rim Trail) is the only way to get there other than a technical climb up the face. (The West Rim Trail could be hiked in the other direction as a multi-day hike, but the day hikers far outnumber the backpackers.) Glad to see that everybody (except maybe one) wore good footwear, as I've seen unsuspecting people trying it with sneakers & crocs. It's a great hike even if you turn back at the chains (which I had to do on my first attempt), but the last time I hiked here (2007) there were so many people that I had some anxious moments. Many were in a hurry and some even tried to pass on the chains. The hike is even more popular now than it was then. A quick Google will reveal lots of information about this hike, some of it very sad.
The hikers moving in the other direction are on their way to one of the most thrilling adventures of their lives. In about 2 & 1/2 miles, hopefully they'll all be on top.

Another shot from Sunday -- I'm ambivalent about the action in this shot, but I really like the light coming through the wave, and the spray.
1. the angle is neat with being above the cars. composition is simple with the lights of cars forming lines, use of lines, balance, and color. this is interesting because of the slow shutter forming straight lines with the car lights. the technique used here was a slow shutter.
2. aperture: f/22 shutter speed: 20 sec. ISO: 400
3. there's a balance of what comes into life and what leaves.

Long time no see! It has been so long since I've posted anything on here and I suppose that is mainly because the doll hobby has kinda been on hold for me lately.. In less than a month my dad and I will be moving and the whole process to getting this far has been a lot more hectic and intense than I ever could have imagined. So with all the stress of that and my school work, my dolls have had to be put on the back burner unfortunately. But, I am feeling ready to maybe get more involved with the hobby again and because of that, I actually have boughten a new doll as sort of an early birthday present for myself. I've purchased @//annepecaro's Resinsoul Lan/Doll Chateau hybrid girl (her old Caty Bracken) and I'm feeling really good about this purchase so far. Hopefully she'll get here before we leave though. ^o^
While I'm updating you all, I figured I should mention that my Dollzone Zo and my Volks Lorina are both still for sale since the people who had them on layaway decided to back out. Also, I am hoping to send a few dolls off to get painted and one to be modded within the coming months so I suppose I'll talk more about that once it actually starts happening.
One last thing, these two girls in the photo are my newest Azone girls. In my last post I had mentioned that I was getting a new one and that would be the blonde girl. She is a Spring Rabbit Mia in case anyone was curious, and she came with all of her original accessories too. The other little lady with the purple hair was a custom obitsu head I bought off of eBay about 1-2 months ago.
I'll be surprised if anyone actually reads all of this since it's turned out to be much longer than I originally intended, but I am just glad to be involved with my dolls again. ☺️
