Monday, October 11, 2010 Song of they day: Paramore “We Are Broken”

Happy National Coming Out Day to all you lovers out there, and I mean ALL you lovers! This day recognizes equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals which is something I strongly believe in. Frankly, it is absurd and flat out silly to me that one human being would judge, ridicule, criticize, and even simply look differently at another human just because of their sexuality. Haven’t we progressed enough as a species to realize that we are all different and that we all deserve respect and by continuing to do what we’re doing is only going to put an end to the human population and not make us stronger and more prosperous which is what we should be working towards? Obviously we haven’t. Adolescents and adults alike are being bullied and treated unfairly because of who they love. This is wrong and needs to stop. Open your eyes, people, and realize that YOU are different too, and you deserve to be treated equally, no matter what gender you think is sexy or what person you fall in love with.

I chose to have the yellow crayon ‘coming out’ because yellow is and always has been my favorite color; Are you going to judge me for that?

To Write Love On Her Arms:

This is a movement I found out about quite some time ago.

MISSION STATEMENT:

To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.

Although this group doesn’t solely target the GLBT community, individuals who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender often find themselves needing the love and support that TWLOHA promotes.

Good news is that the exile of 60100 is almost over. The loco, currently stored at far away St Blazey, has a date with the GTi man at last and will be heading back to Toton in the not too distant future.

This picture was taken at Toton before it went south for it's Cornish holiday, next to 60100 is Mainline blue 60044 which is also at St Blazey and will be GTi'd as well.

3 March 2012.

I understand the storm chasers. There is a certain excitement in the air surrounding a storm.

I skirted the edges of this storm west of Wichita. The radio crackled with the reporters voices as they reported hail and high winds throughout the area. Occasionally a distant lightning strike would pierce the sky.

I managed to stay just out of it. The wind was actually calm. Not blowing, like you would imagine. Maybe I was far enough removed.

I drove these back roads, shooting different scenes. Not a soul in sight.

There is a certain peace to being out there, alone, on the edge of the storm.

I have often noticed how vivid the colours are in flowers that are dying off. They are still as beautiful as the buds beside them!

Date ideas: I could design a custom collar for you, or a store logo. I could help you decorate your shop or home. Or we could endlessly discuss favorite books or tv shows. (Such as Game of Thrones, Firefly, Walking Dead, Supernatural.) Or I could create a character for you in the novel I am writing. We would discuss name, characteristics, etc. (No guarantee this fantasy novel will be published, but I'll be doing my best.) :-)

I can always tell when winter's coming - the guys lay down the "snow fence" in the field across the street -- it's supposed to control drifting snow...I go running to the closet for an extra blanket!

This tree doesn't know what it has coming to it.

Singapore simply does not tolerate graffiti in the traditional form... meaning damaging the property of others. Much less damage than shown here leads to caning and/or prison. Thus most public art is commissioned rather than conventional graffiti. The Aliwal Arts Centre near Arab Street does have some nice examples of graffiti in the ally around their building. Enjoy!

Sometimes—OK, most of the time–coming up with a Halloween costume is a difficult process. You stare at your closet, hoping something inspires you, or scroll through Pinterest for a few hours, grimacing at every done-before idea. And then, if you’re anything like us, you just throw together a makeshift outfit and call it a day, promising yourself that you’ll try again next year.

Yeah, we’ve been there. But instead of being blah and boring this year, grab your inspiration from a hairstyle. As long as you can rock your hair, the rest of the outfit will quickly fall in line behind it. So we found the best celebrity hairstyles that can be turned into surprisingly quick and easy costumes. And yes, we gave you a bunch of costume ideas, too, because we’re nice like that. Click through to get inspired!

Big, Voluminous Curls

With a curly ‘do, you can throw on a glamorous dress, carry a glammed-out baby doll and BAM: you’re Beyonce!. Or go full ‘80s and belt “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” into a plastic microphone, a la Whitney Houston, until your friends beg you to stop. (No cultural appropriation, please). Not feeling the celeb vibes? Brush out your curls, tease the hell out of them, and layer with a full can of Aquanet to make a quick hair-metal bandmate.

Teased Bump

Wing your eyes with black liquid liner, throw on a pink sweater and go as a roller-rink girl. Or cover your body with bronzer, back-comb the hell out of your hair, and BOOM, you’re Snooki. Not a very relevant Halloween costume, but hey, you can’t always reinvent the wheel.

Crown Braids

This Heidi-style braid isn’t just for milkmaids. Got a tiara? Tuck it into the braid, buy a cheap tulle skirt, and you’re a fairy princess. Or, if you happen to have his and hers lederhosen (who doesn’t?) and a willing companion, you’re halfway to a quick Hansel and Gretel duo.

‘60s-Inspired Updo

Combine this hair with thick navy eye liner and a short shift dress to transform yourself into Mad Men’s Megan Draper. You can also pull a classic Halloween move and pair your favorite little black dress with a tiara and elbow-length gloves for a very Breakfast at Tiffany’s look.

Pageant Curls

Wear a sparkly dress, carry a microphone, and you’re either Carrie Underwood today, or Taylor Swift circa 2010. Or, you know, be any one of the Miss America contestants.

Long Braid

Two words: Katniss Everdeen. Buy a plastic bow and arrow, dress up in some black wilderness gear, and you’re essentially the chosen one. Or create two pigtail braids and pair them with a black, long-sleeved dress for a Wednesday Adams vibe.

Soft and Shiny Waves

Pair this hairstyle with a red carpet-worthy gown to channel the Hollywood siren of your choosing, past or present. Or, top your royal blowout with a tiara to mimic Kate Middleton. Make sure to add the sensible shoes to round out the look.

Blunt Bangs

Add tortoiseshell specs and an uncanny ability to be quirky all the time, and you’re basically Zooey Deschanel as New Girl‘s Jess (or, just Zooey Deschanel always). You can also buy some cheap, brightly colored hair extensions, swipe on a bubblegum-pink lip, slide into a crazytown outfit, and transform yourself into Nicki Minaj. And, of course, the easiest of easy: Add thick kohl liner for a Cleopatra look.

Sky-High Ponytail

Pair this look with gauzy harem pants, stick on a few jewels to your skin, and go as a genie. Or channel Gabby Douglas and loop the tail of your hair through a scrunchie and get as close as you’ll ever be to feeling like an Olympic gymnast. (No drunken round-offs, please).

Faux (or Real!) Bob

Curl the ends of your hair to get a Marilyn Monroe or Jackie Kennedy look, or straighten the hell out of your hair, thrown on oversize-sunglasses and an icy glare and call yourself Anna Wintour. If you don’t actually have short hair, and you’re not feeling the night-long wig life, fake a bob by rolling and pinning the ends of your hair to the nape of your neck with bobby pins and hairspray.

As excited as I am about the New Fantasyland Expansion...from the rides to all the new photo ops...there's a part of me that wishes it would all open at one time. Look at all the excitement over Cars Land! It looks amazing. By opening Fantasyland bit by bit, is it going to take away from the "Oh, wow" factor?

I love this part of the road coming into the village of Plumbridge, Co. Tyrone where you get a great view of the main chain of the Sperrin Mountains, particularly the rugged and rocky summit of Mullaghcarbatagh (centre).
