Our City Matters magazine asked residents to get involved in our city dressing campaign by entering a competition that would inspire a Christmas collection of patterns for street banners.
Impressive and creative submissions were received, and our designer had a great deal of fun developing them into patterns.
One group that submitted inspirational ideas included Beech Hall Day Centre on the Andersonstown Road where freelance artist Maria Duddy encouraged her class to enter the competition.
Maria said: "I really enjoyed the fantastic banners throughout the city and jumped at the opportunity to enter the class. The students are talented adults with special needs and they had a ball designing their ideas and even more fun giving them titles which got them laughing and engaging with each."
The most popular themes were selected and developed into six patterns:
Christmas reindeer
Christmas trees
bells
angel
snowman
snowflakes.

I offered to bring some ornaments for doorprizes at our big Christmas luncheon in a few weeks. These are the 16 I decided on. (Of course, now I've got to bead a few more for the people these were originally intended for LOL)

I have been lusting after a complete DVD set of the original series and my wonderful husband presented me with the entire 3 seasons for Christmas - Of course, I just had to make a little Christmas display with my Mr. Spock -
Star Trek came in perfect with being stuck here at home due to snow - perfect watching my favs while working on my new painting of Princess Ozma -
Some of the results of an exploratory photo-walk, that became a kind of mini-project as part of what I hope will become a much bigger one this year.
I have a thing for these discarded, abandoned Christmas Trees scattered about the roads in the New Year. Some of them hang around for months afterwards in strange places. It's hard to think of these being carefully chosen, lovingly decorated, given pride of place in a warm home, twinkling in corners and rooms and windows...
A long term project , with a focus on developing a coherent edit from a body of work 'grown' over time, rather than a search for a single 'flickr friendly' single image, so don't hold your breath! ;)
The family took a short walk on Christmas in Waterbury, Vermont on the road that my in-laws live on. Took a few shots along the way. The sun hitting the mountains was beautiful, better in person than I've managed to capture here.

For snow hills ripped vellum and applied stickles to torn edges. Trees stamped on pp - MM paperie in black and embossed with holographic ep. Same for snowflake moon - have since added a gem to centre of "moon"
