Well with Thanksgiving over (in the US) in the Golden household we have begun our Christmas season in full :). The tree went up tonight. This is undoubtedly not the only Christmas shot you will see from me as my 365 comes to a close :P.

What started out as a test to see how the 50mm f/1.8's depth of field created bokehs against a lit Christmas tree when the lights were out of focus ended up giving a result I was pretty impressed with. Upon checking groups on Flickr in which to add this picture, I soon realized I wasn't the only one to have thought about trying this out. So here's my take. Enjoy the holiday season!
(I question my sincerity)

Reliving Christmas past, as I didn't post these on Flickr at the time. Galveston's (and much of South Texas') first white Christmas.
The snow didn't stick around long. The temp. didn't get below freezing so most of the snow started melting once it hit the ground....fortunately it was falling so heavily that nice amounts were able to accumulate.

December :2012..today i finally got round to putting the Christmas tree up and the decorations for the festive activities..i always try to make hand made gifts for Family and friends here's a quick shot with my old trusty Nikon coolpix, and also my attempt at making my own Christmas card, which i'll be getting printed to send out this christmas..
As always, first i copied the original photo, and opened Gimp 2.8, next i applied a texture by drag & drop, mode set at "overlay", then Desaturated the texture, then inverted the image from the colour tools.,lowering the opacity to 35%, then added another new layer which i gave a slight gaussian blur (setting 1.5) from blur tool, next i adjusted the Curves finally to create the "retro look"this you can suit to your own personal taste by experimenting with the Curve tool, which is brilliant for creating a mood.
Next i added a new layer added a line-border from the tools extending the bottom half of the image..to finish the image i added the "Merry~ Christmas" caption using the "Text tool" font colour hue (e6e0d6) (Opacity 55 %) (felix Titling) (size 175 pixels) pressing the space bar 5 times before hitting the "CaptLock" to type in the "Merry~Christmas" Caption...hope you like it.:)
While walking along the main street in Wolfville, NS one day, I came upon a table outside of a shop that said "free". I was in a hurry but an ornament caught my eye. The owner came over and said,"Do you want that ornament?" I said "yes, is it really free?" He then said "here take the whole box." So it wasn't until last night while decorating the house that I actually opened the box and checked them all out. Needless to say I am very pleased with them. They are all pretty and make me think of our Christmas tree ornaments we had growing up.
