The Christmas / Bethlehem star great conjunction. I tried using a telephoto lens but with such a high ISO required to get the image without trails it was un-usable. I tried with my star tracker too but the weight of the lens was too much for the tracker. realizing i would need more than 400mm anyway to get the rings/moons i decided to just shoot wide. i could get a longer exposure and lower ISO this way.
This is a composite sort of, i did stack a day time image underneath and used a light masking to bring back more detail in the abandoned building.

We had our town Christmas Parade last night. First time I'd been to it. (Well, we've only been stationed here a little over a year so...) It was so much fun! We picked the best spot too! We got free candy, free CHILI... Mmmm! We got a great view... fun fun! This was Sofia's first Christmas parade. She was pretty excited!
Christmas is creeping closerrrrrrr... are you excited? What did you ask Santa for? Have you been good or bad this year? Hmmmm...?
Christmas trees....no photoshop. Long exposure and then zooming in slowly and back out again. You can see the outlines of the trees too on the left side.

Group: Christmas Happiness
For me, Christmas wouldn’t be complete without attending the annual concert of the world-renowned King’s College Choir, Cambridge. So here we are this year at the Barbican Hall in the heart of the City of London (the capital’s CBD), awaiting the arrival of the conductor.
The concert, as ever, was special and uplifting – and, as in the past, King’s were joined by the 150-strong Crouch End Festival Chorus, plus the Philharmonia Orchestra. The magical concert was conducted by Daniel Hyde, music director of King’s College Choir.
To all my Flickr friends and visitors, have a Happy Christmas, and I send you my warmest good wishes for the year ahead.

In the hullabaloo of the holidays I forgot to post this year's Christmas Tree. It has become an annual tradition for me to go up to the mountain (one of them at least) every December, find a suitable tree, dress it up in colorful LED lights, turn it into a bright, colorful tree in a dark snowy forest, make some photos, pack all the lights up, and go home. It has been a fun tradition, and every year has led me to a different patch of forest. This year we found a tree nestled along the old Barlow Road near the Barlow Road Snow Park. I like it because no trees are harmed in the making of this Christmas Tree, and there is something a bit magical in both the solitude of the location and the fleeting nature of the circumstances. It's kind of fun to dress up a wild tree and make these photos and that is a good cornerstone for a tradition.
