Christmas Eve Fireworks are as regular an event as we we can make them. Some years they are more extensive than others, but we generally manage at least a quick round of fire & sparks.

The Christmas present I get every year from the man closest to my heart is very special. He always knows exactly what I want! Last year it was these beautiful cosy brown knee boots.
Sadly there was no good occasion to wear them last winter. By the time I was outside again it was too warm for boots so they had to wait until late autumn.
This is a screen grab from a video of a shopping trip so the quality is poor, but I hope to have better pics this winter.
on Christmas day we found some snow in the upper mountain area of the Taunus. two hours without meeting one human being... only a nice fox crossed our path several times. silence and tranquillity. what a christmas gift!

"Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations. The bad news is that I had to take him down after 2 days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever. Great stories. But two things made me take it down.
First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by.
Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn't realize it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn't take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard."
No kidding...nearly 250 miles from yesterday's eagle (which we also saw on the 23rd) I was walking in my parent's suburban St. Louis neighborhood and looked up to see this one. I could not believe it. He was circling above for several minutes and I "happened" to have my Nikon with me with a decent mid-range lens. What a joy and privilege it has been to see these beautiful birds 3 days in a row in different states!
