These are the ornaments that I was cutting a couple of days ago. This set has seven ornaments but I haven't finished the other two yet. I'm trying these circles with christmas pictures inside, but it's hard to find patterns and I have to draw them myself...
Ken was our oldest Christmas day and Maggie was our youngest at our celebration. It was interesting to sit at the table and listen to Ken reminisce from the old days. He was telling when he was a child he remembers the tree and it had candles on it. Amazing and blessed we are. I hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas.
We went looking at Christmas lights this evening, my daughter was just fooling around here but I freakin LOVE how this came out!! Hahaha

This weekend I bought some decorations at Flying Tiger Copenhagen. I love that store! Now there is much more Christmas atmosphere at home!
From me to all my Flickr friends
I cannot take credit for the idea for this photo. I have seen several people post similar greetings and I liked the personalized feeling of it. So, from me to you, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
May peace and plenty be the first to lift the latch on your door, and happiness be guided to your home by the candle of Christmas. (A traditional Irish Christmas Toast)

These are "Christmas-scented" candles we had for the holidays. They're still one our table, and I felt like shooting them. When I first got my camera, I tried taking pictures of them but that's when I really only used auto everything so those turned out horrible. This looks much nicer.
Also, this is a frame from a video. I really like that you can save a frame from a video within the camera! I have very shaky hands so that helps sometimes! It makes the image smaller, but that's not too much of a big deal for me. Hopefully I can buy a tripod soon though so that can help with my shaky hands.

Christmas 2014: "Clara's Nutcracker adventure" at Killerton House, Devon.
In Clara's dream the nutcraker comes to life as a handsome Prince who saves Clara from the Rat King when all the soldiers and rats come to life. Here a silhouette decoration of the rats on the top of a tall bookcase is illuminated from behind.
After raining throughout the whole of Christmas Day, this stunning sunset was the best gift possible.
Things started very strangely with a gray band of cloud, meeting clear sky in a straight line all along the sky where the two areas met. Even before the sunset began the whole sky was wonderful.
When the sun went down it resulted in the cloudy part of the sky becoming a huge raging fire with a thin ribbon of yellow where the sun had just disappeared. It really was an impressive sight and the most perfect end to the day.

I had to take two photos to make this one. One shot was taken with a slow shutter speed to get the Christmas lights and I took another photo using the camera flash so that I could get Adam, Polly & Pepsi without them being too dark and motion blurred.
Merry Christmas to all! Arf! Arf!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU TOO!
RALEIGH NC: FARMERS' MARKET: This was the neatest thing. Each huge bay was assigned to a different farmer and as you walked up and down the building you passed one 'shop' after another as if they were Christmas tree boutiques.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
So you think your Christmas Eve is stressful? Spare a thought for our mate Nick. While you’re wrestling with tangled fairy lights, he’s got to visit every nice child in the world, steer a sleigh pulled by reindeer with attitude, and deal with elves who’d rather test the toys than pack them. And then there’s Martha — Mrs. Claus—who’s as caring as she is relentless with her annual lecture.
“Don’t sleigh over the speed limit, Nick! Remember what happened in 2015?” “Wear your gloves this time—you’re not frostbite-proof!”
“For goodness' sake, watch out for Elon's Starlink satellites. You’re not dodging one again this year!” “You don’t need to drink every beer someone leaves out! And maybe skip a few chocolates—remember what the doctor said about your waistline? Chimneys aren’t exactly getting bigger, you know.”
“And that beard! If it catches fire in a chimney, don’t come crying to me!” “Oh, and Nick... there’s no shame in using GPS. Last year’s Paris debacle was not a good look.”
Do you have any Christmas traditions? In our house, we’re Lego nerds through and through. Every year on December 1st, we kick off our annual assembly of the four Christmas-themed Lego sets we own—each boasting over 1,000 pieces. It’s a group effort, with whoever happens to be around joining in, fueled by a glass of red wine, Spotify Christmas carols, and a spirited debate over the best way to sort the pieces. (I’m firmly in the “sort by style, not color” camp by the way)
Of course, there’s the inevitable moments “There’s no red piece that’s a double with four blocks and a slant on one side!” Yet somehow, my wife always finds it — usually in a spot I *just checked*. I’m convinced she hides them for fun.
After a week of meticulous building, we finally finish one set... only to discover an alarming number of leftover pieces. Why do I have five green tree branch when I desperately need an orange Christmas light? By that point, it doesn’t really matter though.
Then there’s our grandson. When he arrives, the intricate builds we’ve painstakingly constructed are gleefully demolished in search of *that one perfect block* he absolutely must have. That’s the best part of it all — the chaos, the laughter, the tradition. It’s not about getting it to look like the picture on the box (it never does anyway). It’s about the journey, the memories, and the fun of doing it together.
Wishing you a merry Christmas, I hope you enjoy whatever you are up to !
To all my friends, contacts, followers and any casual passers by, may I wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
The main photo from our Christmas card this year.
I'm very proud of how this turned out, as I put a lot of work into the lighting.
Strobist info: Lighting of this shot was just about the most DIY I have ever done. I don't yet have an umbrella or soft box stand, so I really had to improvise. I setup a ladder to the left of this scene. I put a flash gelled with full CTO on the second rung of the ladder. Because I wanted somewhat softer light, I used a dowel to hang a 5-in-1 reflector as a make shift soft box. To prevent light leak, I moved a chair to the side of the ladder. the caused the somewhat dramatic lighting, but I needed some fill light. All I did here was close our bright white window blinds to cause some reflection of the flash light. I then used a long shutter time to ensure the tree and background were nicely exposed.
A small area at the Plaza is being used as a Christmas Village, with market stalls, a Christmas tree and small fun fair. It was only early evening and so lovely to have Lina with us.
