A very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you all.

[The spirit of Christmas is in the peace, joy and hope that it brings. May it touch your heart and remain in your part of the world... today and always! Merry Christmas]

Ralph you're in our heart. Always!

We miss you!!!!!!!

ASU News did a nice story about my Christmas light paintings! news.asu.edu/20251211-arts-humanities-and-education-illum...

The story behind this image is that my Ricoh camera, which I love, somehow got packed away with the Christmas decorations last January. When we decorated this month - there it was!

This Poinsettia is a Euphorbia pulcherrima.

The ‘flower’ is in the centre.

The plant's association with Christmas began in 16th century Mexico, where legend tells of a young girl who was too poor to provide a gift for the celebration of Jesus' birthday.

The tale goes that the child was inspired by an angel to gather weeds from the roadside and place them in front of the church altar.

Crimson "blossoms" sprouted from the weeds and became beautiful poinsettias.

From the 17th century, Franciscan friars in Mexico included the plants in their Christmas celebrations.

The star-shaped leaf pattern is said to symbolise the Star of Bethlehem, and the red colour represents the blood sacrifice through the crucifixion of Jesus...

Where I come from, we call this a 'Christmas Star'

There is a common misconception that the poinsettia is highly toxic.

This is not true; it is mildly irritating to the skin or stomach and may sometimes cause diarrhoea and vomiting if eaten.

As with all Euphorbias, they bruise easily and give off a white 'milk' when broken, so those sensitive to latex may suffer an allergic reaction.

I wish you all the very best, and thank you for all your kind words, time, comments and faves. M, (*_*)

When we got a tree I had images of a lovely festive scene in our hallway but I had not actually considered our two cats, that seem to have morphed into monkeys, and a toddler who may just have a future as a lumberjack. Between the three of them the tree and decorations are taking a battering and I wonder what will be left of it by the end of the festive period ;-)

You can tell a lot about a person by the way they handle three things: a rainy day, lost luggage and tangled Christmas tree lights. - Maya Angelou

Taken on Christmas Eve. The temperature here was 10C almost record high. Raining, foggy and strong winds on Christmas Eve. It is best time to stay home enjoying the holidays with the family.

Happy Holidays!

She will be 18 on May 14 2024.

I thought I'd do something special with typical Christmas colors and strong color contrasts.

There are still milk stains on my camera and tripod (it was quite a mess in my bathroom) and, yes, it did require 80 takes to get one suitable photo.

Gone over the 4 million view mark recently,so would like to thank everyone, especially my contacts. Merry Christmas to all my great contacts.

One of the houses in our neighborhood always is a standout in its Christmas decor. The older architecture of the house gives it the perfect Classic Christmas look.

Captured nine years ago on Christmas Day, it's still one of my favorite Christmas season images...
