The former hotel "Metropol" was built according to the project of the famous architect Oscar Emilevich Wegener in the XIX century in the Art Nouveau style. The hotel was once one of the best hotels, was listed in the first category on a par with the villa "Elena" and the hotel "Oreanda". It was at the Metropol Hotel that a dinner party was given to the participants in the celebrations of laying the foundation of the Livadia Royal Palace.

What a difference crossing the tracks make. On one side, the chaotic and bustling Mumbai, filled with a mix of stores and street side sellers. As soon as you take the pedestrian bridge over the train tracks at Mahim Station, this is the view that greets you.

It's still chaotic and filled with activity, but there's a real sense of poverty here. Buildings are in disrepair, and sanitation has dropped off a cliff in comparison to the other side of the tracks. The struggle to climb out of poverty looks 100x more challenging here than elsewhere.

Ragusa (Italian: [raˈɡuːza] Sicilian: Rausa; Latin: Ragusia) is a city and comune in southern Italy.

The iconic Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower, a modern skyscraper in Shanghai, China. The tower is adorned with a spherical observation deck, which is brightly lit and visible from a distance. The spherical section is surrounded by a lattice-like structure, adding a geometric aesthetic to the design.

The Monastery of the Dormition is one of the oldest in Crimea and is situated in the most beautiful corner of the peninsula - in the heart of the Mariam-Dere gorge framed with cliffs that rise high into the sky.

The exact date of the cloister's appearance in these lands is unknown. Historians incline to the version, according to which, the monastery was founded in the late 8th - early 9th century by Greek monks, who fled to Crimea from Byzantine.

By the early 15th century the cloister numbered several tens of caves already, and a tiny chapel, two houses for pilgrims and several fountains with - as monks believed - healing water were built near the caves.

Lying in an inaccessible gravel pit are three well preserved examples of obsolete technology from the 1920s. They are acoustic mirrors designed to pick up the sound of approaching aircraft before they were visible. They were never taken into use because of the development of radar prior to World War 2.

During the days of Mobutu Sese Seko's Zaire, the university was a status symbol in what is now the Eastern Congo. Two wars and numerous rebel conflicts later, the university is no longer what it once was. Windows are cracked or knocked out entirely, the electricity has stopped working years ago, and a functioning toilet is no where in sight.

Illuminated Petronas Tower at Night from below. The Petronas Towers, also known as the Petronas Twin Towers (in Malay Language: Menara Petronas, or Menara Berkembar Petronas), are twin skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH)’s official definition and ranking, they were the tallest buildings in the world from the year 1998 to 2004 and remain the tallest twin towers in the world. So the Petronas Towers were the tallest buildings in the world for six years, until Taipei 101 in Taiwan was completed in the year 2004.

The Petronas Towers still remain the tallest twin buildings in the world. The towers feature a double decker skybridge connecting the two towers on the 41st and 42nd floors, which is the highest 2-story bridge in the world. The 88-floor towers are constructed largely of reinforced concrete, with a steel and glass facade designed to resemble motifs found in Islamic art, a reflection of Malaysia’s Muslim religion. The buildings are a landmark of Kuala Lumpur, along with nearby Kuala Lumpur Tower. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Asia

Shanghai Tower, a modern glass skyscraper rises dramatically into a pale sky, its reflective grid facade and subtle curve conveying corporate power, contemporary architecture, verticality and urban scale.

The Arco della Pace (Arch of Peace), one of the most interesting example of neoclassical architecture, characterizes the surrounding area. Luigi Cagnola began its construction in 1807 when the city was under Napoleonic rule. It is located at the centre of the large square, Piazza Sempione. It was interrupted after Napoleon’s defeat at Waterloo, and then completed by Francis I of Austria who dedicated it to Peace. In his book “A Moveable Feast”, Ernest Hemingway reports the erroneous conviction that the Arco della Pace is aligned with the Arc de Triomphe at the Carousel and the Arc du Triomphe at the Étoile, both in Paris. Originally the enormous group consisting of the chariot and six horses faced France, but after the fall of Napoleon and the advent of the Austrian domination in Milan, the chariot was turned around to face the city centre.

The photo features a striking nighttime panorama of Shanghai's Lujiazui area, highlighting the city's architectural prowess with towering skyscrapers adorned in colorful lights. Prominent structures such as the Oriental Pearl Tower and the Jin Mao Tower stand out against the dark sky, while the red Monument to the People's Heroes adds a splash of color to the urban landscape. The steel truss of Waibaidu bridge in the foreground provides a sense of scale and depth, leading the viewer's eye across the water towards the cityscape. The overall mood is one of awe-inspiring modernity and cultural significance, encapsulating the dynamic energy of China's financial hub.

At the time of its construction, this was the largest man-made structure in Greenland. Now, it just seems like an average arctic-sized church, close to the coastline. Being a small town of less than 5,000, it's pretty easy to find the church as the whole town is technically walkable.

I say technically because, well, being if you're not used to cold weather you might not appreciate walking around in freezing temperatures for 20-30 minutes at a time. It's surprisingly doable though if you prepare proper clothing, and, the cold doesn't feel as cold when you're in the arctic compared to non-polar latitudes.
