The Janike-khanym mausoleum is an almost completely preserved mausoleum of the 15th century. - a fine example of "Seljuk" architecture. It is a monumental octagonal structure under a tiled roof, decorated with carved columns along the edges of the edges. It is adjoined by a carved portal with a massive arch, and an Arabic calligraphic inscription is carved at the entrance: these are hadith texts, in which, among other things, there are the words "This world is a dwelling of vanity, but the future life is eternal." In the depths of the mausoleum, on a stepped elevation, one can see a tombstone decorated with an elegant, like ornament, Arabic inscription: "This is the tomb of the great empress Janike-khanym, daughter of Tokhtamysh-khan, who died in the month of Ramadan in 841 (1437)."

St. Bernard de Clairvaux Church is a medieval Spanish monastery cloister which was built in the town of Sacramenia in Segovia, Spain, in the 12th century but dismantled in the 20th century and shipped to New York City in the United States. It was eventually reassembled at 16711 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, Florida, where it is now an Episcopal church and tourist attraction called Ancient Spanish Monastery. It is the oldest European-built structure in the Western Hemisphere.

Le quartier Masséna forms part of the Italie XIII housing district in the 13 arrondissements of Paris, just to the south of Olympiades. However, unlike Olypmiades, the towers are situated on street level, giving greater integration into the urban fabric. They bear the names of Italian composers or cities such as Puccini, Palermo, Rimini.

In 1892, the Imperator Alexander the Third invited the main wine-maker of Crimean and Caucasian feudal lands Count Lev Golitsyn, who had already been known as the founder of wine-making enterprises in the New World, to Massandra. It was he who ordered to build the first underground winery with tunnels in Russia in order to produce and ripen table and dessert wines. Its construction lasted four years.

Constructed from the light-grey Crimean stone, the Massandra winery’s building is reminiscent of a medieval castle with tower and forged iron gates. The wine cellars are cut underneath it: the fan of seven 150 meter-long tunnels goes deep into the rock and forms galleries with stone niches for many-year-old vintage wines. This natural storehouse has unique microclimate with stable temperature of +12 degrees Celsius all the year round. This temperature is considered to be ideal for high quality dessert and fortified wines’ storage.

Today, the Massandra winery has one of the largest wine collections in the world that numbers over a million vintage wine bottles, including 10 to 200 and more year-old wines. There are several truly unique items: for instance, Sherry de la Frontera, produced in 1775 and considered to be the oldest wine in the world. Massandra winery has its own museum stock that includes up to three bottles of each wine from winery’s collection.

In the middle of Lyon, we both waited, the streetcar driver in the streetcar opposite until the time was ready to continue her journey to the next stop. And I waited at "my" stop until a streetcar driver stops his vehicle and takes me to my next stop.

As it looks, we both spent the time with cell phone in hand. What she read I do not know, I took pictures with mine :-)

Thanks for your criticism and as always, favs, likes and comments are gratefully appreciated!

Wat Sra Sri is a beautiful wat located on an island surrounded by a pond. Just entering the wat is a beautiful experience as you have to cross a bridge. On the island you will see a Sri Lankan-style mounded chedi and walking Buddha in Sukhothai style.

Sukhothai was the first capital of Siam founded by King Ramkhamhaeng during the 13th Century. The province's temples and monuments have been restored and is now the Sukhothai Historical Park and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I liked this simple, but yet elegant wat so much I posted three photographs of it (see the comments section to see the other two).

Which one do you like the best?

Just another wonderful day in glorious Loučovice, South Bohemia.

The KLCC Park is a public park located in the vicinity of Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The park has been designed to provide greenery to Petronas Twin Towers and the areas surrounding it.

The park was designed by Roberto Burle Marx. When the park was designed, the aim was to "leave the world a little more sensitive and a little more educated to the importance of nature". The park itself contrasts as a calm environment in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city.

Khan el-Khalili (Arabic: خان الخليلي‎) is a famous bazaar and souq (or souk) in the historic center of Cairo, Egypt. The bazaar district is one of Cairo's main attractions for tourists and Egyptians alike. It is also home to many Egyptian artisans and workshops involved in the production of traditional crafts and souvenirs.

Cairo itself was originally founded in 969 CE as a royal city and capital for the Fatimid Caliphate. Gawhar al-Siqilli, the general who had just conquered Egypt for the Fatimids, ordered the construction of a great palace complex to house the caliphs, their household, and the state's institutions. The site of Khan el-Khalili today was originally the southern end of the eastern Great Fatimid Palace, as well as the location of the burial site of the Fatimid caliphs.

Following significant population growth, largely associated with the pioneering work of Henry Bell to develop local tourism and shipbuilding initiatives, the area became a police burgh in 1846. The new burgh commissioners acquired an old theatre on the corner of Princes Street and Sinclair Street for use as a burgh office in 1850. With further growth driven by the arrival of the railway in 1858, the burgh commissioners decided to demolish the old theatre and to erect a purpose-built structure on the site. A plaque to commemorate the life of the locally-born inventor, John Logie Baird, was unveiled on the front wall of the building by the provost William Lever in May 1952.
