Siblyback lake - or reservoir - was constructed in the late 1960s, the dam being completed in 1969. Located on the edge of Bodmin Moor and surrounded by moorland and dramatic tors, it is today regarded as a beauty spot. The Lake is popular for fly fishing, cycling and walking. It is also a valuable habitat for many bird species, and a bird-watching paradise.

Walking back down the hill from a photo session at the Cherhill monument, I caught this glimpse of lush sunset colours to the south-west, used a fence post for a bit of stability, and snapped.

Thus a bit noisy with the high ISO but I'll live with it.

I'll admit to having a photographic thing for bare trees against a twilit sky. This is Court Hill in the Wiltshire village of Potterne just after sunset on what was, for us, an unusually clear and cold winter evening.

This only lasted about 1 minute so only had time to grab my iPhone to snap this pic. It almost looks like the trees are on fire!

This abstract composite image was inspired by a rendering of a very early spring scene of emerging buds on silhouetted branches.

Playing with a new app called Diana Photo, you choose two existing photos and merge them. Fun but a bit limited in the blending department...still, it has a shuffle feature where it picks two images from your camera roll and blends them with interesting, sometimes crazy results! I like choosing my own. This is a sky/bare trees shot blended with my favorite moo cows and then cropped and sharpened a bit in PicMonkey.

For Textural Tuesday. HTT!

Bare trees and fog this morning and a temperature of 57F made December 1st feel like a warm spring day.

Third time I've been to Bushong; first time on a sunny day.

A collage of bare tree's branches in Gwynedd.

For this week's Smile on Saturday theme. These two trees, leaning into each other were a focus in the wider landscape, like leading players with the company around them.

Winter is a long road in the far north. This was taken in color although, it looks like a black and white shot. Spring will come soon, but today feels and looks like winter. Looking forward to the color green.

Photographed at 1/13 second to capture the movement of snow. Use maximum enlargement to see snow streaks past tree trunks.

Intimate landscape - a frosty morning in the woods.

On a cold winter afternoon, the Anglican parish church of St Michael and All Angels in the Wiltshire village of Urchfont (population 1,075), 6 kilometres south-east of Devizes.

St Michael and All Angels Church dates from the late 13th century and early 14th century and is a Grade I listed building, with a few interior survivals from an older building on the same site dating to around 1220. The transepts were added in the 14th Century, when the nave was also extended a little further to the west, while the tower was built in the late 15th Century.

Inside, the church has exceptional vaulting, much praised by Pevsner.

Nothing like a lonely road and bare trees on a still cold Winter's day.
