This isn't a great photo by any means. However I saw a black vulture the other evening for the first time. Didn't expect to see one in this area. So thought it was cool.

Blackjack is one of 3 brothers we rescued from under a woodpile when they were about a week old. All are black. The mother, a feral cat, abandoned them so we adopted them. Now almost 5 years old they are all very gentle and affectionate and love to snuggle.

This was one of the highlights of our trip. Black bears feasting on salmon in a creek near Valdez. It was amazing to see that the bears would only take a few bites and then toss the fish aside for the sea gulls to clean up. Then it was on to the next one. It was worth standing out in the rain to get this shot.

Black sky with the moon...

These are the sweetest little birds .... so tiny, so cute, and sooooo fast.... I miss more shots of them than I can count. But...finally one day I hung around outside in the freezing weather .. and, they did come back to try for seeds at the feeder.

My fingers were getting numb... but, I didn't give up 'til I got a few with them near some pretty red berries in the Hawthorn tree.... it was -22C..... brrrrrrr........
