Wild South Africa
Kruger National Park
This photo was taken at the Letaba rest camp in the Kruger National Park. The camp is situated on a sweeping bend of the Letaba River, midway between the southern and northern boundaries of the Park.
In winter the gardens are a riot of color, with several species of Aloe and the Impala lily in full bloom.
The Aloes attract a variety of birds, including the Collard, White-bellied, Marico and Scarlet-chested Sunbirds, Crested Barbet, Black-headed Oriole, Black-eyed Bulbul and Red-winged Starlings.
Black Kite, Milvus migrans
≠=================≠
We call them "Black", but in the soft early monring light the colours are quite distinctive.
It was great to see the pair of Black-shouldered Kites back in the Sneydes Rd area this morning. I observed them collecting nesting material again.
I will be back later to catch up - got to run for now.
Architekt: WRS Architekten & Stadtplaner
The redesigned Jungfernstieg underground station in Hamburg: The new black and white contrast makes the station space appear larger and wider. The matt black surfaces in the track area deprive the eye of possible reference points, so that the spatial edges that would otherwise delimit the space are no longer immediately visible. In its reflecting form, the ceiling gives the impression of a water surface. This symbolizes the location of the stop under the Alster. Architect: WRS Architekten & Stadtplaner

The Queenscliff High Light, also variously known as the Black Lighthouse, Fort Queenscliff Lighthouse or Shortland Bluff Light, stands in the grounds of Fort Queenscliff in Queenscliff, Victoria, Australia. It is one of three black lighthouses in the world, and the only one in the Southern Hemisphere. Together with the nearby white Queenscliff Low Light, it was built in 1862 to replace the former sandstone lighthouse of 1843.

A few more to come from this awesome experience!
All from the same session, taken at a public site at a distance so as not to disturb the birds or alter their behaviour.
This one strayed closer in than the others..would have liked a little more cloud to break up the blue a bit.. Kinneil lagoon
An amazing experience watching this pair feed their chicks recently.
Taken at a public site at a distance so as not to disturb the birds or alter their behaviour.
I haven't noticed these phoebes before this summer. Not sure if I just haven't been paying attention or if they're moving further north.
'Cause if you're not really here
I don't want to be either
I wanna be next to you
